Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing at least one nonvolatile microorganism metabolic product by performing micororganism-fertilization based on sugar.SOLUTION: In the method, a microorganism culture which produces a desired metabolic product is cultivated by using a sugar-containing liquid culture medium containing a monosaccharide content exceeding 20 wt.% on the basis of the total weight of the liquid culture medium, most of volatile components of fertilization liquids are removed, and the pickles are produced by (a1) a step of powdering a starch supply raw material selected from grains, and (a2) a step of liquefying the powdered material in an aqueous liquid under the existence of at least one starch liquefied enzyme, then saccharifying the material by using saccharified enzyme, adding a partial amount of a crushed raw material to the aqueous liquid continuously or in a batch manner, and performing the liquefaction. Related to a solid preparation of the obtained nonvolatile microorganism metabolic product, the method uses the solid preparation as an additive or a supplementary agent to the food of human beings or animals, or fabric, leather, cellose, paper, or for treating the surface the product.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a novel bacterial strain designated DD1, which has the ability to produce organic acids, in particular, succinic acid (SA), which has been isolated from bovine rumen, and is capable of utilizing glycerol as a carbon source; and variant strains thereof.SOLUTION: The invention provides a process for producing succinic acid by cultivating a microorganism in the presence of glycerol, glucose, fructose, maltose, sucrose, or the like. The invention also provides a process for the production of tetrahydrofuran and/or 1,4-butanediol and/or γ-butyrolactone, and pyrrolidone from succinic acid. The microorganism is Mannheimia succiniciproducens MBEL belonging to genus Mannheimia, and is a Gram-negative bacillus or coccobacillus.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a novel bacterial strain designated DD1, which has the ability to produce organic acids, in particular succinic acid (SA), which was originally isolated from bovine rumen, and is capable of utilizing glycerol as a carbon source; and variant strains derived there from retaining said capability; as well as to methods of producing organic acids, in particular succinic acid by making use of said microorganism.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for production of at least one non-volatile microbial metabolism product in solid form by sugar-based microbial fermentation, wherein a microbial strain producing the required metabolism product is cultivated with a sugary liquid medium with a monosaccharide content of more than 20 wt. %, based on the total weight of the liquid medium, the volatile components of the fermentation brew are mostly removed, the sugary liquid medium being produced by: a1) milling a starch source selected from cereal grains, a2) liquefying the milled material in an aqueous liquid in the presence of at least one starch-digesting enzyme and subsequent saccharification using at least one saccharifying enzyme, wherein the liquefying is carried out with addition of a partial amount of the milled material to the aqueous fluid continuously or batch-wise. The invention further relates to a solid formulation obtained by the above method of a non-volatile microbial metabolism product and the use of such a solid formulation as additive or supplement to animal or human food or for textile, leather, cellulose, paper or surface treatments.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for the production of at least one nonvolatile microbial metabolite in solid form by sugar-based microbial fermentation, in which process a microorganism strain which produces the desired metabolites is grown using a sugar-containing liquid medium with a monosaccharide content of more than 20% by weight based on the total weight of the liquid medium, and the volatile constituents of the fermentation liquor are subsequently largely removed, the sugar-containing liquid medium being prepared by: a1) milling selected starch feedstock from cereal grains; and a2) liquefying the millbase in an aqueous liquid in the presence of at least one starch-liquefying enzyme, followed by saccharification using at least one saccharifying enzyme, where, for liquefaction purposes, at least a portion of the millbase is liquefied by continuous or batchwise addition to the aqueous liquid. Furthermore, the invention relates to a solid formulation, of a nonvolatile microbial metabolite, obtainable by the method according to the invention; and to the use of such a solid formulation as additive or supplement for human or animal nutrition or for the treatment of textiles, leather, cellulose, paper or surfaces.
