Abstract: Ferroelectric liq. crystal display (I) comprises (a) two substrates, at least one of which is transparent; (b) two electrodes, formed on the substrates, one of which is transparent and (c) one ferroelectric liq. crystal between the electrodes. Each individual controllable region of the liq. crystal changes the display in each pre-determined period. Alternatively, the display contains (d) several control electrodes; (e) several information electrodes; a ferroelectric liq. crystal (f), device to sequentially control a control electrode (9) device to sequentially control an information electrode and (h) a device to synchronise the control of both types of electrodes. ADVANTAGE - Annealing and back switching effects are prevented.
