Abstract: A method and system is disclosed for providing intelligent remote access to wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs). A translator is provided in base stations so that system controllers may issue application level network management protocol messages to base stations. The messages are transmitted by the translator to a medium access control (MAC) messaging protocol and forwarded to WTRUs. Information provided by WTRUs to base stations is translated from a MAC protocol to an application level network management protocol so that the information may be accessed by system controllers using application level network management protocols.

Abstract: A method and wireless communication system may be used for transferring management information. An access point (AP) may transmit a management information base (MIB) information request including a category field and an action details field to a wireless transmit/receive (WTRU). In response to receiving the information request, the WTRU may determine whether or not to provide management information to the AP. When the WTRU provides management information to the AP, the WTRU may compile management information stored in a MIB located in the WTRU and transmit a MIB information report to the AP. The MIB may list a plurality of tables containing information associated with radio resource management (RRM) and at least one table containing physical layer measurements. The AP may include a MIB for storing MIB information of the WTRU. The AP may transmit the stored MIB information of the WTRU in response to a request.

Abstract: Un metodo mejorado de manejo de red, particularmente en el contexto de normas IEEE802.11 y IEEE802.11k, a traves de dos nuevas medidas MAC, con ventajas acompanantes. Un metodo para determinar y anunciar la congestion que tambien se provee para un sistema de Red de area Local Inalambrica (WLAN). La presente invencion tambien introduce un metodo para manejar la congestion cuando se detecta la congestion. Este aspecto de la presente invencion se aplica principalmente a sistemas inalambricos que usan el mecanismo de Acceso Multiple de Percepcion Portadora/Evasion por Colision (CSMA-CA). Los metodos se implementan ventajosamente en WTRUs selectivamente configurada de varias formas.
