    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method simply and effectively preparing a high purity monoglyceride ketal a component of fat and fatty acid and a method of preparing a monoglyceride a component of fat and fatty acid by using the same. SOLUTION: This method prepares a monoglyceride ketal expressed by general formula (3) by reacting fat, a ketone or an aldehyde and glycerins in the presence of a catalyst and a method preparing monoglyceride expressed by general formula (4) by carrying out a deketalization of the monoglyceride ketal obtained therefrom [R1 is a 5-23C saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group, R2 and R3 are each H, a linear or branched 1-22C alkyl or an alkenyl group or a 6-30C aryl group optionally having an alkyl substituent and the sum of the carbon atoms of R2 and R3>=3].

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an ester alkoxylate with little amt. of unreacted source material and by-products with a high reaction rate and high yield by using a catalyst containing an org. acid salt of alkali metal, alkaline-earth metal or rare earth metal and multiple metal oxide of MgO and Al2 O3 .     Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce tartronate salt in high a yield by catalytic oxidation of glycerol with an oxidizing agent in the presence of a specific metal catalyst on a carrier. CONSTITUTION:In the presence of a catalyst which comprises (A) the first component of Pd, (B) the second component of one or more selected from Sn, Pb, Sb, Bi, Se and Te, and (C) the third component of one or more of Pt, rare earth elements where the B/A molar ratio is 0.01 to 2 in A+B; the C/A molar ratio is 0.1 to 2 in A+C; B/A and C/A molar ratios are 0.01 to 2 in A +B+C, respectively; and the composition or only A are supported on a carrier such as activated carbon, carbon black or calcium carbonate or silica, glycerol or glyceric acid (or its salt) is catalytically oxidized with an oxidizing agent such as air, oxygen or an oxygen and nitrogen mixture gas to give tartronate salt. The amount of the first component supported on the carrier is 2 to 4wt.% in the single component, while 1 to 10wt.% in combination.
