    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a hydrogenating catalyst capable of producing higher alcohol with high purity by using one kind of a substance selected from oxides and hydroxides of aluminum, silicon, titanium or the like, zeolite and silica-alumina as a carrier and specifying the atomic ratio thereof. CONSTITUTION:At least one kind of a substance selected from a group consisting of oxides and hydroxides of aluminum, silicon, titanium, zirconium, magnesium and iron, zeolite and silica-alumina is used as a carrier to produce a hydrogenating catalyst. The atomic ratio (the atomic ratio of the whole of the catalyst including the carrier) of the carrier is set to Cu/Fe/(at least one kind of a metal selected from a group consisting of IIB, IIIb, IVa, IVb, VIb, VIIa metals of the Periodic Table)/(at least one kind of a metal selected from a group consisting of alkali metal and alkaline earth metal)=1/0.4-2.5/0.5-5.0/0-0.4. This catalyst is used to obtain higher alcohol with high purity in an extremely easy manner.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an amine producing catalyst having high activity and high selectivity by supporting a catalyst compsn. specified in its atomic ratio on a carrier selected from oxides and hydroxides of aluminum, silicon, titanium or the like, zeolite and silica-add alumina. CONSTITUTION:A carrier selected from oxides and hydroxides of aluminum, silicon, titanium, zirconium, magnesium and iron, zeolite and silica-alumina is suspended in an aqueous medium to be reacted with a water-soluble copper salt, a water-soluble iron salt and a water-soluble alkali substance to precipitate a copper compound and an iron compound on the carrier. Subsequently, a water- soluble aluminum salt is reacted with the copper and iron compounds to precipitate an aluminum compound. This precipitate is mixed with an alkali metal salt to be baked to obtain a catalyst wherein the atomic ratio of Cu/Fe/ Al/(alkali metal and/or alkaline earth metal)/Zn is specified to 1/0.4-2.5/0.5-5.0/0-0.4/0-1.0. Alcohol, aldehyde and amine are reacted using this catalyst to produce tertiary amine.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the fine pulverization of a catalyst and to enhance activity and selectivity, in preparing a copper-iron-aluminum catalyst, by using alkali such as hydroxide or carbonate of alkali metal or alkaline earth metal. CONSTITUTION:In preparing a catalyst of copper-iron-aluminum (atomic ratio Cu:Fe:Al=1:0.4-2.5:0.1-3.0), an aqueous solution containing sodium hydroxide in the amount corresponding to aluminum ions is heated and an aqueous solution of an aluminum salt is added thereto to precipitate aluminum and, thereafter, a copper salt such as a cuppric salt and an iron salt such as a ferrous salt are added thereto to precipitate copper and iron. Or, an aqueous solution containing the cuppric salt and the ferrous salt in a ratio of Cu/Fe=0.4-2.5 is heated and, after hydroxide or carbonate of alkali metal or alkaline earth salt is dripped, an aluminum salt is introduced into said aqueous solution. When this precipitant is used, the fine pulverization of the catalyst is prevented and selectivity and activity are enhanced and the catalyst can be easily prepared.
