    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide high water repellency on the surface of a base material by a method wherein a reactive monomer or oligomer with a hydrophobic group in a molecule is polymerized on the surface of the base material of kitchen utensils, films for agriculture, building materials, etc., to form a fine uneven structure consisting of a polymer with the hydrophobic group on the surface of the base material. CONSTITUTION: In order to provide excellent water repellency on the surface of a base material, a processing is performed in such a way that a reactive monomer or oligomer with a hydrophobic group in a molecule is polymerized on the surface of the base material to form a fine uneven structure consisting of a polymer with the hydrophobic group on the surface of the base material. As the surface of the base material, an org. or inorg. surface exhibiting no enough water repellency is cited and a metal surface or an electrically conductive polymer surface is pref. As the reactive monomer or oligomer with the hydrophobic group in the molecule, a monomer or oligomer with an 8-20C alkyl or alkenyl group and pyrrole, throphene, phenol or vunyl group 15 pref. cited.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a liposome including a reaction product between a phosphoric acid ester and an antibody, exhibiting high target-directing properties and useful as a carrier for a medicine, a diagnostic. CONSTITUTION:This liposome includes a reaction product synthesized by using a phosphoric acid ester represented by the formula [R is a 6 to 36C alkyl or alkenyl; R is a 2 to 3C alkylene; M is H or a cation; (n) is 0 to 6] and an antibody in a ratio of the phosphoric acid ester to the antibody of 50 to 300mol:1mol and culturing the resultant mixture at 0 to 40 deg.C for 1 to 24hr. The liposome is prepared from a mixture containing the reaction product and a membrane-constituting component (e.g. yolk lecithin or dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine) in an arbitrary ratio according to the conventional method for formation of liposome, e.g. dialysis method. In this liposome, the ratio of the antibody introduced to the liposome surface is high. The activity of the antibody is high since a foreign material such as a coupling agent does not exist on the liposome surface.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the water repellency of a solid (a machine part, a tool, an industrial good, etc.) required to be water-repellent by forming at least a part of the surface of the solid into a specific multistage projection structure. CONSTITUTION:At least a part of a water-repellent surface of a solid is formed into a multistep projection structure which comprises a projection structure A with a larger period and a projection structure B with a smaller period and has a multiplication factor of the surface area of 5 or higher and a period of 1-10mm. The multistage projection structure is formed by mechanical process or by chemical reaction, e.g. by electrolytic plating or by precipitating crystals or agglomerating particles on the solid surface. The formation of the multistage projection structure improves the water-repellency of rainwear, kitchen utensils, sanitary goods, and other materials, tools, and industrial goods requiring water repellency.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title aggregate of a regular open cell structure by freezing and drying a dispersion of aluminum hydroxide or aluminum oxide in water at specified concn. and pH under specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:The dispersion of aluminum hydroxide or aluminum oxide in water at 1-7pH contg. 0.1-20wt% Al2O3 is frozen at -4--200 deg.C. The freezing is preferably carried out at the freezing rate of >=2.0cm/hr by a unidirectional freezing method. The water is evaporated from the frozen material while in a frozen state to form an aggregate, and the aggregate is further baked, if necessary. Consequently, a slit or honeycomb aggregate of aluminum hydroxide or oxide having the composition, Al2O3.nH2O [(n) is 0-3.5], is obtained. The structure consists of a thin wall plate having 0.01-15mum mean thickness and a plurality of the thin wall plates are unidirectionally laminated at intervals of about 1-50mum, or the structure consists of the thin wall plate part and open cells surrounded by the plates and having 1-50mum mean diameter.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To titled dispersion which little causes coagulation and gives a smooth touch to the skin, obtained by polymerizing a polymerizable monomer in a specified aqueous surfactant solution and removing the water and the surfactant. CONSTITUTION:A polymerizable monomer (e.g., styrene) is added to an aqueous surfactant solution having a dynamic modulus of elasticity >=0.01dyn at a vibration frequency of 0.05-1.0Hz (e.g., aqueous solution of hexadecenylsuccinic acid) and the polymerization of the resulting mixture is started at 50-90 deg.C in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator. Next, a polymerizable monomer is added thereto at such a rate at which the dynamic modulus of elasticity of the aqueous surfactant solution will not be outside the above range, and the mixture is polymerized for 5-50hr and then subjected to freeze drying, centrifugation or a like operation to remove the water and the surfactant. In this way, a rodlike fine polymer powder having a major axis of 0.1-100mum and a minor axis one third or below the major axis. This fine powder is dispersed in a nonaqueous medium, e.g., methanol.
