    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition excellent in resistance to impact, heat and chemicals, molding processability and surface appearance by incorporating a composition comprising a specific graft copolymer and polyamide resin with an aqueous solution of metal hydroxide at a specified proportion. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be obtained by incorporating a composition comprising (A) 1-99wt.% of a graft copolymer prepared by graft polymerization to A1: 5-80 pts.wt. of a rubbery polymer (e.g. polybutadiene) of A2: 95-20 pts.wt. of a monomer mixture of (1) 10-90wt.% of an aromatic vinyl monomer, (2) 90-10wt.% of vinyl cyanide and/or a (meth)acrylic alkyl ester and (3) 0-40wt.% of another vinyl monomer copolymerizable therewith and (B) 99-1wt.% of a polyamide resin with (C) an aqueous solution of a metal oxide 1-45wt.% in concentration (e.g. lithium hydroxide) at such a proportion as to satisfy the relationships I and II. It is preferable that the metal in the component C be a group I or II metal falling between the second and sixth period in the providic table.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the balance among the compatibility, mechanical properties, and flowability by compounding an aq. metal hydroxide soln. into a compsn. comprising a specific graft copolymer and an arom. polyester resin. CONSTITUTION:5 to 80 pts.wt. rubber polymer [e.g. butadiene (co)polymer] having a glass transition temp. of 0 deg.C or lower is graft copolymerized with 95 to 20 pts.wt. monomer mixture comprising 20 to 90wt.% arom. vinyl monomer (e.g. styrene) (i), 80 to 10wt.% vinyl cyanide monomer (e.g. acrylonitrile) and/or alkyl ester of an unsatd. carboxylic acid (e.g. methyl methacrylate) (ii), and 0 to 40wt.% other vinyl monomer (iii) copolymerizable with the abovementioned monomers (i) and (ii), thus giving a graft copolymer. A resin compsn. comprising 1 to 99wt.% resulting graft copolymer and 99 to 1wt.% arom. polyester resin is compounded with a 1 to 45wt.% aq. soln. of a hydroxide of a metal of the group I or II of the second to sixth period of the periodic table is compounded in an amt. satisfying formulas I and II (wherein (x) is the number of moles of water in said aq. soln.; (y) is the number of moles of said metal hydroxide in said aq. soln.; and (m) is the number of moles of (ii) in said resin compsn).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject molded product excellent in strength, rigidity, etc., and suitable as various mechanical parts, etc., by mixing a stock solution consisting of a lactam and alkaline catalyst with a stock solution consisting of a lactam and an activator at a temperature above the melting point of the lactam and polymerizing the resultant mixture solution through reaction injection molding. CONSTITUTION:(A) A component consisting of (A1) 30-100wt.% substantially anhydrous lactam (e.g., pyrrolidone), (A2) a catalyst in an amount of 0.05-5mol% based on the total lactam and (A3) 0-70wt.% inorganic reinforcing material (e.g., glass fiber) is mixed with (B) a component consisting of (B1) 30-100wt.% substantially anhydrous lactam, (B2) an activator (e.g., acetylcaprolactam) in an amount of 0.01-3mol% based on the total lactam, (B3) 0-30wt.% inorganic reinforcing material and (B4) 0.05-10wt.% thermal decomposition type organic foaming agent (e.g., dinitrosopentamethylenetetramine) at 90-160 deg.C and injected into a mold at 140-170 deg.C to afford an expansion molded product.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyamide foam which is lightweight, has a uniform state of foaming and excels in strengths, rigidity, heat resistance, appearance, etc., by anionically polymerizing an anhydrous lactam in the presence of a blowing agent comprising a specified acyclic ether compound. CONSTITUTION:A blowing agent comprising an acyclic ether compound of a b.p. of 50-200 deg.C is prepared. Examples of the acyclic ether compound include ethyl ether, propyl ether and ethylene glycol dimethyl ether. A polyamide foam is obtained by anionically polymerizing an anhydrous lactam (e.g., caprolactam or valerolactam) in the presence of the blowing agent. The obtained polyamide foam has a suitable cell diameter and a uniform state of foaming, in freed of problems such as dislocation of cells and uneven distribution of cells in a molding, is controlled in sinkmarks on the surface of a molding and can be suitably used for automotive parts, electrical components, etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyamide resin composition having satisfactory flowability, moldability, shock resistance and flame retardancy by adding, to high-impact nylon, brominated polyphenylene ether and brominated polystyrene, as flame retarders, at a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION:The subject composition is composed of (A) 30-70wt.% of polyamide resin, (B) 10-40wt.% of a modified polyolefin (preferably ethyleneacrylic acid copolymer) containing at least one of carboxyl, carboxylic metal salt, carboxylic ester, carboxylic anhydride and imide groups, preferably at 85/15-50/50 A/B weight ratio, (C) 5-40wt.% of brominated polyphenylene ether of formula I (n is 2-400) and (D) 5-40wt.% of brominated polystyrene of formula II (m is 30-1,500) where the total of (C) and (D) is preferably 10-50wt.% and (E) 1-15wt.% of auxiliary flame retarder such as antimony oxide, zinc oxide or lead oxide.
