Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a satisfactory image having high image density and free from gradiation defect and blur by adding an urethane compd. SOLUTION: An urethane compd. is further incorporated into a liq. developer obtd. by dispersing toner particles consisting of a bonding resin and a colorant in a dispersive medium. The liq. developer is preferably obtd. by dispersing 0.1-20 wt.%, preferably 0.5-5 wt.% toner particles consisting essentially of a pigment or dye and a resin in an insulating nonpolar solvent. A pigment excellent in light and solvent resistances is preferably used. The pref. amt. of the pigment in the toner particles is 5-40 wt.%, especially 10-25 wt.%. The urethane compd. may be prepd. by allowing one or more isocyanate compds. to react with one or more alcohol compds.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the black developer for the electrostatic latent image capable of reproducing an original in high fidelity, especially, the expression of delicate blackish color usable for the fields of graphic arts, by forming a color forming agent comprising carbon black and a blue type colorant. SOLUTION: The toner grains contains a resin and a colorant comprising the carbon black and the blue type colorant derived azines. The blue type colorant is used, preferably, in an amount of 1-50 weight % and if it is =50 weight %, color development is not sufficient, and it is feared that a problem on poor printed density may happen. It is preferred that this black developer is used for a liquid developer prepared by dispersing the toner grains into an insulating liquid.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a black liquid developer showing excellent re-dispersion property by specifying the density of a carbon black used as a coloring agent and controlling the specific surface area by BET method to a specified value or lower. SOLUTION: The liquid toner is prepared by dispersing 0.1 to 20wt.% color particles essentially comprising a pigment and a resin in a petroleum-based hydrocarbon carrier liquid. The color particles have 0.3 to 5μm average particle size. The color particles essentially consist of a carbon black and a resin, and the amt. of the carbon black in the particles is between >=5wt.% and =7 and /g BET specific surface area. If the specific surface area exceeds 50m /g, the re-dispersing property of the particles deteriorates. If the pH is

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liq. developer not causing image blurring due to the sticking of a toner component on an electrostatic latent image carrier and obtaining a high printing density, by using a colorant pretreated with a dispersive medium when toner particles contg. a bonding resin and a colorant are dispersed in the dispersive medium to produce a liq. developer. SOLUTION: When toner particles contg. at least a bonding resin and a colorant are dispersed in a dispersive medium to produce a liq. developer, a colorant pretreated with the dispersive medium is used. In order to remove a soluble component in a colorant, the colorant is washed with the dispersive medium before the production of a toner. The sticking of a toner component and the deterioration of an image are suppressed. In the case of a colorant contg. a component soluble in both the dispersive medium and a polar solvent, the colorant may be washed with the polar solvent but it is preferably washed with both the polar solvent and the dispersive medium. It is not necessary to reduce the pigment content of the resin and printing density can be increased.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent decrease in the transfer rate of a visible image on an intermediate transfer body to a material to be transferred caused by continuous printing, by forming a transfer layer of the intermediate transfer body from a silicone rubber containing a silicone oil. SOLUTION: An electrostatic latent image on an electrostatic latent image carrier body is developed with a liquid toner, the visualized image by development is transferred to an intermediate transfer body, and then the visualized image on the intermediate transfer body is again transferred to a transfer material. In this method, the transfer layer of the intermediate transfer body consists of a silicone rubber containing a silicone oil. The transfer layer is normally formed on a conductive layer. The amt. of the silicone oil in the silicone rubber is preferably 3 to 30 pts.wt. to 100 pts.wt. silicone rubber. As for the conductive layer, a layer having Ω.cm volume resistivity is preferable. Thereby, the intermediate transfer body has excellent transfer property and excellent durability, so that high quality image can be obtd. with good reproducibility by the image forming method which uses an intermediate transfer body.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a liquid toner which can be laid in a stack even when a high quality paper having a high surface flatness/smoothness is used, two-sided printing is conducted, and under high temp. in summer and which ensures stability in preservation by determining specifically the mix proportion of the binder resin for toner particles and the fat having a specific iodine value. CONSTITUTION: A liquid toner for development of electrostatic latent image of such a structure that toner particles at least containing a binder resin and pigment are dispersed in a dispersion medium. wherein the composition of the toner particles consists of 100 parts by wt. binder resin and 5-50 parts by wt. fat having an iodine value of 130 or more. At least toner particles containing a coloring agent such as pigment or dye and fat having an iodine value of 130 or more in the binder resin are dispersed in a solvent of insulative nature. The quantity of this sort of fat will be 5-50 parts by wt., more favorably between 10-40 parts by wt., relative to 100 parts by wt. binder resin. A smaller quantity of fat decreases the improving effect of the stacking characteristic, while a greater quantity of fat worsens the stability in preservation to lead to drop of the easiness in works of crushing.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an intermediate transfer medium which has excellent transferability and excellent durability by specifying a relation between the swelling rate of a release layer with a liquid toner and the thickness of the release layer. CONSTITUTION:The swelling rate of the release layer with the liquid toner, defined as A(%), and the thickness of the release layer, defined as B(mum), are so set as to satisfy a relation 10 =10, more preferably >=100. On the other hand, the amt. of the liquid bleeding out at the time of retransfer is large and, therefore, the disturbance of the image arises if AXB exceeds 300.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a flash fixing device without the lowering of fixing performance of toner to recording paper because of no generation of soil of a glass plate caused by the adhesion of toner by setting the surface resistance of at least one face of the glass plate opposed to the recording paper, to a specified value. CONSTITUTION:The flash fixing device is formed out of a heating source for heating toner 5 developed on recording paper 4 by flashlight to fix the toner 5 on the recording paper 4, and a glass plate 3 covering a part of the heating source and opposed to the recording paper 4. The surface resistance of at least one face of the glass plate 3 is to be 10 OMEGA/square inch or less. With the surface resistance of at least one face of the glass plate 3 thus reduced to prevent the substantial electrification of the glass plate 3, the grain of the toner 5 does not electrostatically adhere to the glass plate 3, so that the soil of the glass plate 3 is not generated. The surface resistance of the glass plate 3 has to be 10 OMEGA/square inch or less at least on one face, but it is desirable to be 10 OMEGA/square inch or less, further desirably 10 OMEGA/square inch or less.
