    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the subject composition freed from such drawbacks for the films therefrom as low yield resulting from being subject to breakage of biaxially oriented polyphenylene sulfide films produced by conventional method during film forming processes such as biaxial orientation or heat setting.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a biaxially oriented poly-p-phenylenesulfide film, which has favorable slip properties and a few bulking projections and insulation defects, by a structure wherein the film contains the specified weight of inactive inorganic particles and has the internal haze per unit thickness and external haze of specified values. CONSTITUTION:The film concerned is a biaxially oriented poly-p- phenylenesulfide film, which contains 0.3-1.5wt.% of inactive inorganic particles and the internal haze per unit thickness of which is 1-3%/mum, and the external haze of which is 5-20%. If the content of the inactive inorganic particle is below 0.3wt.%, the slip properties of the film become poor. If said content exceeds 1.5wt.% insulation defect increases. If the internal haze per unit thickness is below 1%/mum, the slip properties of the film become poor. If said internal haze exceeds 3%/mum, insulation defect increase. If the external haze is below 5%, the slip properties become poor. If said external haze exceeds 20%, the mechanical characteristics of the film become inferior and brittle.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain film which has a specific melt viscosity, is made from p-phenylene sulfide, takes a specific value for the inclination at an elongation percentage 20% in a stress-strain curve and in which mechanical properties, chemical resistance and heat resistance are harmonized with one another. CONSTITUTION:Biaxially oriented film is that which is made from poly-p-phenylene sulfide wherein the cuntent of repeating units of the formula is at least 90mol%, the melt viscosity at 300 deg.C ranges from 300 up to 100,000 poise under a shear rate 200/sec and when a piece of 10mm.-wide film cut in the length and breadth direction is stretched at 25 deg.C and at a rate 600%/min, the inclination at an elongation percentage 20% in a stress-strain curve is of 0.01-1.0kg/mm. /% in length and in breadth In order to obtain the film having these properties it is important to set into the optimum range stretching conditions such as, especially, stretching temperature, percentage of stretching and stretching balance in length and breadth, etc. The optimum ranges differ according to properties of polymers.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain wrinkle-free film which is excellent in light transmission, heat resistance and mechanical properties, by a method wherein the title polymer having a high polymerization degree and a specific melt viscosity is melted and extruded in the form of film and then is stretched biaxially and heat-treated under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:Polyphenylene sulfide having a high degree of polymerization wherein the content of repeating units of farmula I is 90mol% or more and the specific melt viscosity muO ranges 300-100,000 poise at a temperature of 300 deg.C and at a shear rate of 200/sec is melted, extruded in the form of film and then is stretched biaxially so that the degree of double refraction of the stretched film satisfies equations II and III (wherein ngamma, nbeta are refractive indexes in the major and minor axial directions on a section parallel to the film surface of an optical indicatrix, nalpha is a refractive index in the direction of thickness and the density rho satisfier equation IV (where rhoO is an amorphous density). Then, heat-treatment is conducted under such conditions that dimensional changes in length and breadth do not exceed + or -15% and equation V be satisfied.
