    Abstract: Methods and apparatus to selectively use engine valves as both intake and exhaust valves and to selectively operate the engine as a 2 cycle or as a 4 cycle engine. In a disclosed embodiment, the intake valves and the exhaust valves are manifolded together through a small manifold, with the manifold being connectable to the intake manifold or the exhaust manifold through two-way valves. In preferably a camless engine, the engine valves may be controlled to operate the intake valves as intake valves only or to operate as both intake valves and exhaust valves, and to operate the exhaust valves as exhaust valves only or to operate the exhaust valves as both intake valves and exhaust valves. Exemplary embodiments are disclosed.

    Abstract: The invention discloses a valve mechanism of engine, its cylinder head and its operation method. The cylinder head on which the valve mechanism is disposed comprises valves, an intake passage and an exhaust passage. The cylinder head is designed as layered structure, the lower layer involves valves, the middle layer is divided into a leftward air passage and a rightward recover passage, wherein the air passage is provided with an air valve, the recover passage is provided with a recover valve, the upper layer involves a leftward intake passage and a rightward exhaust passage, wherein the intake passage is provided with an intake valve, the exhaust passage is provided with an exhaust valve. A common passage for intake and exhaust is disposed in the middle of the cylinder head. It can reduce the resistance during admission and discharge, and can perform scavenging.
