    Abstract: PURPOSE: To update the marking of merchandise in stock by printing a new label including updated information, and sticking the label on the merchandise. CONSTITUTION: Each merchandise having a label on which a bar code mark is printed is identified by scanning the mark by a hand scanning head 10. Information such as prices is retrieved from the data base of a host computer 60, and the stored information is periodically updated. Then, when the information is updated, data which can be read by a machine or/and human being are printed on the new label. Then, this printing is executed by a printer 62 integrated into the hand scanning head 10, and each printed label is pressurized on a cutting edge 65 at the front part of the scanning head 10, and cut off. Moreover, the label is directly stuck near the existing label or over it on the merchandise.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide an information inputting system in which the speed-up of a customer accounting processing can be attained by a large-scaled retailing facility. CONSTITUTION: In a flexible purchased product accounting system, a processing capability can be improved by quickly making a shopping cart empty by more than two checkers by using a portable bar code scanner/data terminal equipment 15 as one part of an auxiliary accounting station used at the time of congestion peak. The accounting system is individually provided with a module for scanning a purchased product and a module for receiving the payment of a customer. The check of the customer accepted at the time of payment can be processed in a real time through an electronic deposit transfer(EFT) instruction. Empty inventory can be complemented by using a system for labeling final delivery destination information obtained by bar-coding the stock, and packing into a container for delivery to an accepting/redelivering center, and the final delivery destination information is scanned and decoded so that the correct path of the complemented stock can be decided in the center.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To easily aim a mark with the beam of a laser diode, to exactly position the mark for a laser scanner before scanning, and to exactly trace the mark by the laser scanner during scanning. CONSTITUTION: A laser for generating an incident light beam is provided in a head 10 for aiming a mark by a hand scanning head 10, and an optical element such as a positive lens for directing the incident laser beam along a first optical path to the reference plane of a plane perpendicular to an incident laser beam transmitting direction 104 is provided in the head 10 (which is provided also in a blocking wall part 58). The laser light reflected from a mark is going along a second optical path going away from the mark to the head 10. A reflection surface such as a scanning mirror 66 is vibrated back and force, and the mark is scanned. The head 10 is provided with a sensor means 80 for generating an electric analog signal indicating the optical intensity of the reflected laser light, and signal processing means 81-83 which process an electric signal, and process the data of an scanned mark into a digital electric signal.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To make it possible to process commodities in a retail shop by printing out a label including information such as the weight and price of a commodity to be sold by weight which are obtained from a data base in a computer at real time. CONSTITUTION: The weight of a commodity put on a scale is weighed by using a balance 132 built in a base board 104. A scanning head 102 identifies a commodity as meat, fish or the like by a label on which a bar code is printed out. A data base 124 discriminates the price (unit price) of the discriminated commodity per unit weight and the price is calculated by a system microprocessor. A printer 62 prints out a commodity name, a price and a unit price on a new label by alphanumerics/a machine readable code and the new label is stuck to the original label.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To miniaturize a light condensing means and to mini-aturize also the housing of a device by moving a visual field scanning means together with a scanning mirror to oscillate the read visual field in the scanning direction synchronously with scanning of read light. CONSTITUTION: A scanning mirror 66 is attached onto a scanning means like a high-speed scanning. motor 70. The motor 70 has an output shaft 72 fixedly supporting a supporting bracket 74, and the mirror 66 is fixed onto this bracket 74. The motor 70 oscillates and rotates the shaft 72 back and forth within a desired angular range. A feedback part of reflected laser light is condensed by a spherical condenser mirror 76 to form a convergent beam in a conical condensing optical path. The mirror 76 reflects the conical convergent light into a head along an optical path 116, and this light passes a laser transmission element 78 along a second optical path and is made incident on a sensor means like a photo sensor 80. The sensor 80 is extended along the linear scanning range and detects the variable intensity of laser light condensed through a field of view beyond this range, thus generating an electric analog signal.

The remote terminal equipment 15 periodically remotes the identification code, and transmits a packet 17 without any data to the base station. The base station transmits all data which are allowed to wait in the memory for being repeated to this remote terminal equipment 15.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To use a laser scanner even for a bar code of a two-dimensional array by providing a means which causes a scanning means to perform raster scanning. CONSTITUTION: The scanning means successively shakes maser light in first and second directions crossing each other to form a raster scanning pattern. That is, a Y-axis scanning motor 70 is driven synchronously with operation of an X-axis scanning motor 68 to drive a mirror 78 at a uniform speed when a bar code of a two-dimensional array is read. As the result, laser light is linearly displaced in the vertical direction, and the raster scanning pattern is formed on a reference face. This scanning pattern consists of approximately parallel scanning line groups of regular intervals which are bundled one by one in the vertical direction. Thus, the bar code of a two-dimensional array is read.
