    Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of phosphonomethylglycine in which N-phosphonomethyliminodiacetic acid N-oxide is brought into contact with a catalytically active quantity of at least one catalyst, selected from amongst a thionyl halide, ammonium dithionite or an alkali metal dithionite, a dialkyl sulfite, sulfur dichloride, sulfur dioxide and sulfurous acid, in a reaction chamber by metering the N-phosphonomethyliminodiacetic acid N-oxide into the reaction chamber in such a way that always at least 50% of the N-oxide metered into the reaction chamber are converted.

    Abstract: Production of hydrogen peroxide by reaction of hydrogen and oxygen is effected over a stationary noble metal-containing catalyst such that the liquid stream containing water and/or a 1-4 carbon alcohol and the simultaneously-flowing hydrogen- and oxygen-containing gas stream have apparent flow directions which are not parallel to each other. An Independent claim is also included for apparatus for production of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) by reaction of hydrogen (H2) and oxygen (O2) comprising: (a) a cylindrical reactor (1) with an axial gas feed (2); (b) a reaction space (3) at least partly surrounding gas feed (2) circumferentially and limited by a separator wall (6) spaced from the outer mantle (15), the feed (2) and wall (6) having gas-permeable openings at the top of reaction space (3); (c) an outlet (14) for removal of gases from the reactor, this outlet communicating with the annular space (4) between the mantle (15) and wall (6); (d) devices (10, 11) for impacting an upper cross-sectional surface (17) of reaction space (3) with liquid; and (e) an outlet (12) for liquid flowing down through the lower cross-sectional surface (18) of reaction space (3).

    Abstract: In a continuous process for preparing hydrogen peroxide solution in a medium comprising a water-miscible organic solvent by reaction of hydrogen and oxygen in the presence of an inert gas, the gas stream is circulated and fresh hydrogen and oxygen are introduced in the form of pure gases only at a rate corresponding to that at which they are consumed. The solution prepared in this way can be used for the epoxidation of olefins.
