    Abstract: PURPOSE: To advantageously realize uniform ashing within a short treatment time at a low cost by holding the pressure of a reaction gas to a low pressure within a predetermined range during a period when plasma distribution is uniform and reducing the same to a lower pressure as compared with the low pressure within the predetermined range in the vicinity of a point of time when a non-uniform region is generated. CONSTITUTION: When an elastomer residue formed on the surface of a mold is removed by ashing, a central electrode 4 is allowed to protrude into a treatment tank 1 and an annular vulcanizing mold 15 is positioned around the electrode 4 as other electrode so as to be spaced apart from the electrode 4 by a predetermined distance and power is applied across both electrodes 4, 15 to generate plasma by discharge. The pressure of the reaction gas from a reaction gas supply pipe 9 is held to a low pressure within a predetermined range from the start of discharge during a period when the plasma distribution between both electrodes 4, 15 is uniform in such a state that the inflow and outflow amts. of the reaction gas are well-balanced and, in the vicinity of a point of time when a non-uniform region is generated, the pressure of the reaction gas is reduced to lower pressure as compared with the low pressure within the predetermined range.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the coloration of a core material and heighten the transparency of the core material and make the material switably usable in decorative fields, etc., by using transparent solid polymer as the core material wherein the polymer is obtained by polymerization of monomer containing a specified amount of a polymerization inhibiting agent. CONSTITUTION:Regarding a light transmitting tube composed of a hollow tubular transparent clad material and a transparent core material having refractive index higher than that of the clad material, a transparent solid polymer obtained by polymerization of monomer containing 2ppm or less polymerization inhibiting agent is used as the core material. In that case, more preferably polymer obtained by polymerization of monomer containing 2ppm or less, desirably 0.5ppm or less, polymerization inhibiting agent is used for the core material by employing distillation refining method, absorption refining method by silica gel, activated carbon, molecular sieve, etc., ion exchange refining method, chromatographic refining method, purifying method by an alkaline solution, etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a laminate wherein fluororesin and methacrylic resin or acryl resin are bonded with good adhesion by feeding methacrylic acid or acrylic acid monomer onto the graft polymer for plasma surface treatment of a fluororesin member for polymerization, and forming methacrylic resin or acryl resin layer. CONSTITUTION:The required surface of a fluororesin member is plasma- processed in an inert gas atmosphere. Graft-polymerizable methacrylic acie or acryl monomer whose polymerization inhibitor content is less than 20ppm and dissolved oxygen amount is less than 25mg/l at 20 deg.C is fed to the plasma- processed surface for graft-polymerization to form graft polymer to the plasma- processed surface. Methacrylic acid or acryl acid monomer is fed onto the graft-polymerized element for polymerization to form methacrylic resin or acryl resin layer on the graft-polymerized material. It is thus possible to provide a laminate where fluororesin member and methacrylic resin or acryl resin layer are bonded firmly to each other.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a mold cleaning method capable of removing stains on the surfaces of a mold cavity safely cavity and readily without damaging the surface of the mold cavity by cleaning the surface of the mold cavity in use of CIF3 gas. CONSTITUTION:A tire mold is put in a cleaning bath 1, and mass-flow controlling 4, 5 having CIF3 gas introduced from CIF3 gas container 2 and N2 from an N2 gas container respectively serve to control the flow rate of them to them be introduced into a cleaning bath 1, and thus the tire mold is subjected to cleaning under a prescribed condition of flow rate, pressure, and temperature. The CIF3 gas is stable at room temperature and has no autolysis, or acts as a fluorination agent for particularly efficiently bringing an organic substance or the like into fluorination and bringing about the principal chain cutting of the organic substance. For this reason, the organic substance becomes a volatile gas finally to volatilize, with the result that stains on the surface of cavity caused by organic substances, i.e., rubber or plastic composite, can readily be removed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a high-molecular polymer at a low cost by causing a monomer vapor to generate an ionized gas plasma under a pressure of about 1-atm, causing the plasma to initiate the polymn. of a monomer, and carrying out most part of the polymn. in the absence of the plasma. CONSTITUTION:A monomer (or an aq. soln. or emulsion of the monomer) (e.g. a 50% aq. soln. of acrylamide) 2 is put into a treating chamber 1 where a plasma of the atmospheric pressure is generated; while a gas (e.g. helium) is being supplied through a gas supply pipe 3, voltage from an a.c. supply 4 is applied to a conductive pipe electrode 5 to form a discharge zone between electrodes 5 and 6 to thereby initiate the polymn. in a similar way to the conventional plasma-initiated polymn.; after a plasma is generated for a predetermined time, the gas supply pipe 3 and an exhaust pipe 7 are closed; and while the temp. of the treating chamber 1 is kept constant, the polymn. is conducted. In the above process, an ionized gas plasma is generated under a pressure of 0.2-3atm, pref, about 1atm.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To shorten the time required for post-polymerization in plasma- initiated polymerization and to obtain an intended polymer in high yield by using a low-frequency discharge to generate a gaseous plasma. CONSTITUTION:The method comprises generating a gaseous plasma in a vapor containing a monomer to initiate the polymerization of the monomer and carrying out most of the polymerization in the absence of the plasma, the plasma generation being conducted by using a low-frequency discharge. As the discharge is used a glow discharge generating a non-equilibrium plasma. For the plasma generation, any of known techniques can be used such as the capacitive coupling method and the inductive coupling method. Preferred examples of the monomer include compounds having one ethylenic double bond, of which vinyl monomers are particularly preferred.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance bonding strength by treating the surface of a fluoroplastic- containing sheet having a metal layer or a layer composed of a synthetic resin other than fluoroplastic laminated to one surface thereof in a helium gas atmosphere according to an atmospheric pressure glow plasma method to hydrophilize the same. CONSTITUTION:A weather-resistant sheet is obtained by laminating a metal layer or a layer composed of a synthetic resin other than fluoroplastic to one surface of a fluoroplastic-containing sheet. In this case, the surface of the fluoroplastic-containing sheet is treated in a helium gas atmosphere according to an atmospheric pressure glow plasma method to be made hydrophilic. For example, an object to be treated is arranged in a treatment chamber where plasma is formed and helium gas is supplied into the treatment chamber to perform the surface treatment of the object to be treated. That is, two electrodes 3 are arranged in the treatment chamber 1 to which a helium gas supply pipe 2 is connected in opposed relationship and an AC power supply 4 is connected to one of the electrodes and the other electrode is earthed and the sheet like object 5 to be treated is moved between the electrodes 3 by a pair of rollers 6 to be subjected to surface treatment.

CONSTITUTION:This method consists in coating the base material 22 with the thin film of the target material 20 by a magnetron sputtering device 1 provided with the target material 20, a main magnet 10 which is disposed on the side not facing the base material 22 to be coated with the target material and an auxiliary magnet 12 which is disposed at least within the plane inclusive of the target material or on the side of the target material facing the base material.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a rubber hose with high performance and improve gas resistance and solvent resistance by forming a silver thin film or a silver-alloy thin film formed of silver as a main component, on the outer peripheral surface of a synthetic resin made inner pipe, and thermally hardening a rubber layer on the silver thin film or the silver-alloy thin film through adhesive so as to form an integrated body. CONSTITUTION:In a low-permeability rubber hose, a thin film 2, made of silver or a silver alloy made of silver as a main component, is formed on the outer peripheral surface of a synthetic resin inner tube 1 with its inner peripheral surface being in direct contact with a medium, an adhesive layer 3 is applied thereon so as to adhere a rubber layer 4 covering the adhesive layer 3 to the synthetic resin made inner pipe 1, and a reinforcing layer 5 and a rubber outer skin layer 6 are further provided at need. The synthetic resin inner pipe 1 is made of polyethylene, polypropylene, polybutene-1, or the like. A high-rigidity organic fiber such as a glass fiber and a carbon fiber can be also added as reinforcing material to the resin material. Ag-Au, Ag-Cu, Ag-Zn, or the like is used for the silver alloy, and the rubber layer is formed of synthetic rubber made of isoprene, butadiene, chloroprene, or the like. As a result, organic solvent resistance and organic gas resistance are improved without harming the flexibility of the rubber hose.
