Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to activate the surface of a vulcanized rubber with good efficiency and to thereby facilitate its compositing with another material by surface-treating the vulcanized rubber by irradiation with ultraviolet light. SOLUTION: Water, an alcohol, a carbonyl compound, an amine or a sulfur compound is optionally applied to the surface of a vulcanizate of at least one rubber selected among natural rubbers, styrene/butadiene rubbers, nitrile rubbers, chloroprene rubbers, isoprene rubbers, butyl rubbers, ethylene/propylene/diene rubbers, butadiene rubbers, etc., and the surface is treated by irradiation with ultraviolet light at a wavelength of 1-360nm emitted from an excimer laser in a vacuum with an energy density of 0.05-100J/m . The treated surface is joined to another material directly or through an adhesive to obtain a composite rubber material.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a composite material comprising an elastic matrix and fibers from cracking and enable the composite material to have improved durability and be prevented from suffering a decrease in strength, and to obtain a pneumatic tire and a belt both having excellent properties by using the composite material. SOLUTION: The composite material is obtained by adding organic synthetic or other fibers having a length of 0.1-100mm and a diameter of 1-150μm to a matrix selected among crosslinked rubbers, thermoplastic elastomers, foams of these, and the like in an amount of 0.1-80vol.% based on the matrix. The projected image of each fiber has neither a right-angle nor acute-angle part at one or each end.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To produce a rubber composite material excellent in adhesion between a base material and a rubber layer by forming a CoOx thin film on the surface of the base material by sputtering a Co target under a specified condition, forming a rubber composition and vulcanizing the composition. CONSTITUTION: At the time of supplying power to the target by using a DC power source in the presence of an inert gas (argon, etc.), containing a gas (oxygen, ozone, etc.) having an oxygen molecule by using Co as a target, the sputtering is executed by using the power more than a displacement point at which a voltage between the target and the base material is risen rapidly to form the CoOx thin film. At this time, a mixing ratio of the inert gas and the oxygen is kept in an order of inert gas: O2 =(100:0.1) to (100:100) and a thickness of the CoOx thin film is kept in the order of 10Å-100μm. Then, the rubber composition is formed on this thin film and vulcanized to produce the rubber composite material. In this way, the rubber composite material in which the base material and the rubber layer are jointed in tight adhesion is obtained.

The outside rubber layer 2 is formed from a rubber compsn. prepared by compounding a copolymer consisting of isobutylene and p-methylstyrene and characterized by that a part of p-methylstyrene is partially brominated with an alkoxysilane compd. represented by formula (wherein R and R are an arbitrary functional group and R and R are a hydrocarbon group). The outside rubber layer 2 is laminated on the inside resin layer 1 after the surface of the inside resin layer 1 is subjected to pretreatment such as plasma treatment, corona discharge treatment or ultraviolet irradiation treatment.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To simply produce a laminate of a resin and rubber without generating a problem from an aspect of working environment by laminating and bonding a rubber compsn. prepared by adding an alkoxysilane compd. represented by formula to a rubber component and a resin to which surface modifying treatment is applied without interposing an adhesive between them to bond a resin layer and a rubber layer. CONSTITUTION: A rubber compsn. is prepared by adding an alkoxysilane compd. represented by formula (wherein R and R are an arbitrary functional group and R and R are a hydrocarbon group) to a rubber component. If necessary, a reinforcing agent, a filler, a vulcanizer and the like are compounded with the rubber component. Plasma discharge treatment, corona discharge treatment or ultraviolet irradiation treatment is applied to a resin based on a polyamide resin to perform modifying treatment. This unvulcanized rubber compsn. and the resin subjected to modifying treatment are laminated without interposing an adhesive between them. The whole is vulcanized by a heat press to obtain a laminate.

In that case, more preferably polymer obtained by polymerization of monomer containing 2ppm or less, desirably 0.5ppm or less, polymerization inhibiting agent is used for the core material by employing distillation refining method, absorption refining method by silica gel, activated carbon, molecular sieve, etc., ion exchange refining method, chromatographic refining method, purifying method by an alkaline solution, etc.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a laminate wherein fluororesin and methacrylic resin or acryl resin are bonded with good adhesion by feeding methacrylic acid or acrylic acid monomer onto the graft polymer for plasma surface treatment of a fluororesin member for polymerization, and forming methacrylic resin or acryl resin layer. CONSTITUTION:The required surface of a fluororesin member is plasma- processed in an inert gas atmosphere. Graft-polymerizable methacrylic acie or acryl monomer whose polymerization inhibitor content is less than 20ppm and dissolved oxygen amount is less than 25mg/l at 20 deg.C is fed to the plasma- processed surface for graft-polymerization to form graft polymer to the plasma- processed surface. Methacrylic acid or acryl acid monomer is fed onto the graft-polymerized element for polymerization to form methacrylic resin or acryl resin layer on the graft-polymerized material. It is thus possible to provide a laminate where fluororesin member and methacrylic resin or acryl resin layer are bonded firmly to each other.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a mold cleaning method capable of removing stains on the surfaces of a mold cavity safely cavity and readily without damaging the surface of the mold cavity by cleaning the surface of the mold cavity in use of CIF3 gas. CONSTITUTION:A tire mold is put in a cleaning bath 1, and mass-flow controlling 4, 5 having CIF3 gas introduced from CIF3 gas container 2 and N2 from an N2 gas container respectively serve to control the flow rate of them to them be introduced into a cleaning bath 1, and thus the tire mold is subjected to cleaning under a prescribed condition of flow rate, pressure, and temperature. The CIF3 gas is stable at room temperature and has no autolysis, or acts as a fluorination agent for particularly efficiently bringing an organic substance or the like into fluorination and bringing about the principal chain cutting of the organic substance. For this reason, the organic substance becomes a volatile gas finally to volatilize, with the result that stains on the surface of cavity caused by organic substances, i.e., rubber or plastic composite, can readily be removed.

Thermosetting resin films prepared by blending an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer with an organic peroxide are preferred as the films 16 made of the resin.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To operate illumination of a large area with one piece of light source by projecting and emitting the light from a light source supplied via a light transmission hose with a planar or curved surface light emitting surface and further a large area region. CONSTITUTION:This surface light emitting device comprises the light source 1, the light transmission hose 2 and a light emitting member 3 and is used on the roof of a building 4, etc. The light source 1 emits light of a specific color (wavelength) and the light transmission hose 2 is formed by packing a viscous liquid-like core into a high-polymer clad worked to a flexible pipe shape. Both ends of the clad are closed by transparent windows. The light is totally reflected at the boundary of the core and the clad and the incident light is transmitted to the other end by using the clad having the refractive index lower than the refractive index of the core. The light emitting member 3 is mounted to the advertisement 5 and the light rays of the respective colors supplied from the light transmission hose 2 progress in the core. These light rays partly transmit the inside of the clad without totally reflecting on a part of the inside peripheral surface The right rays are thus efficiently emitted from the outer peripheral surface.
