Abstract: A covering for an architectural opening includes a fabric adapted to be extended across the opening or retracted adjacent one side of the opening. The fabric has on e fixed edge along one side of the opening and an opposite movable edge. The movable edge is guided by a flexible metal tape disposed in a generally Z-shaped configuration that extends slidably along the movable edge of the fabric and in opposite perpendicular directions at opposite ends of the movable edge for variable lengths.

Abstract: A wireless battery-operated window covering assembly is disclosed. The window covering has a head rail in which all the components are housed. These include a battery pack, an interface module including an IR receiver and a manual switch, a processor board including control circuitry, motor, drive gear, and a rotatably mounted reel on which lift cords wind and unwind a collapsible shade. The circuitry allows for dual-mode IR receiver operation and a multi-sensor polling scheme, both of which are configured to prolong battery life. Included among these sensors is a lift cord detector which gauges shade status to control the raising and lowering of the shade, and a rotation sensor which, in conjunction with internal registers and counters keeps track of travel limits and shade position.

Abstract: An improved retractable covering for an architectural opening includes an improved mounting bracket, an improved limit stop to prevent over-retraction and overextension of the retractable covering, an improved battery pack mounting bracket for attaching a power supply to a head rail of the retractable covering, an improved battery pack mounting apparatus for attaching a battery pack to a head rail, an improved control system for the retractable covering, and an improved method of using a wireless remote control or a manually operated switch to activate a motor to control the configuration of the covering, including the extension or retraction of the covering, and the transmissivity of the covering. The disclosed improvements are field retrofittable.

A pull cord is provided for raising and lowering the shades by rotating the rollers. The pull cord is operatively connected to the inner roller by a dual direction spring clutch. The rollers are formed by a pair of roller tubes aligned one inside the other and each having a central axis, the axis of rotation of each tube being the central axis of the inner tube, and the central axis of the outer tube being spaced from its axis of rotation.

Abstract: An architectural-structure covering and corresponding method of manufacturing, assembly, or the like is disclosed. The architectural-structure covering including a covering comprising a front layer, a rear layer, and an intermediate barrier layer, wherein the intermediate barrier layer is coupled to a rear side of the front layer and to a front side of the rear layer so that the intermediate barrier layer is positioned between the front and rear layers. The architectural-structure covering further comprising a plurality of lift elements arranged and configured to move the covering between extended and retracted positions. The lift elements being positioned being the intermediate and rear layers. In this manner, the lift elements may be sandwiched between the intermediate and rear layers thus rending the lift elements inaccessible, or at least greatly limiting accessibility, to an end user.
