Abstract: The present invention achieves power savings turning off all or some of the baseband processing and timeslots that have not been transmitted due to full or partial DTX. With respect to partial DTX, the TFCI is read at the beginni ng of shortest TTI in CCTRCH (step 12). If determine YES, all codes and timeslo ts are used repeat step 12 and if determine NO, not all codes and timeslots are used (step 13). Then the transmitted codes and associate timeslots and radio frames within the shortest TTI in the CCTrCH are determined from the receive d TFCI (step 14). Thereafter, the receiver is turned off for the unused codes as indicated by the received TFCI (step 16). With respect to full DTX, followin g TFCI reception, the receiver is turned off for all timeslots within the shortest TTI.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and system for enabling efficient reduction of TFCs in the TFCS to achieve desired transmission, while remaining within desired power and data requirements. Upon the UE transmission power requirement exceeding the maximum or allowable transmission power the MAC shall be informed for subsequent TFC selection of all TFCs that currently exceed this limit. The UE will then chose the TFC with the next lower transmission power requirement and the sequence will continue until an acceptable TFC is determined. The present invention also enables the replacement of the TFCs in the FTCS and advanced determination of non-supported TFCs. The TFCs that require transmission power greater then the maximum or allowed UE transmission power shall be determined continuously in every TTI, not just in TTIs where the maximum power has been exceeded.

Abstract: A method for multicasting a packet begins by providing a buffer for each of two user equipments (UEs) in communication with a base station. A determi nation is made whether there is a previously unsent packet at the base stati on. A second determination is made whether both UE buffers are non-empty. A non-empty buffer is flushed if there is no previously unsent packet and if o ne of the buffers is non-empty. A packet is selected to be transmitted if th ere is a previously unsent packet or if both buffers are non-empty. The buff ers are updated based on feedback received from the UEs.

Abstract: The present invention is a receiver for receiving a communication signal divided into a plurality of timeslots, wherein the timeslots include a plurality of channels, including a burst detector for detecting when a selected one of the plurality of channels of the communication is received. A comparator (14) responsive to the scaled noise power estimate the signal power estimate is also included in the burst detector for generating a burst detection signal when the signal power estimate is greater than the scaled noise power estimate, and a data estimation device, responsive to the burst detection signal, for decoding the plurality of channels.

Abstract: Un metodo y aparato para realizar la ecualizacion al nivel de microplaca (CLE) utilizando procesamiento conjunto para mejorar el desempeno y el rendimiento del sistema utilizando un transmisor que tiene una pluralidad de antenas transmisoras y un receptor que tiene una pluralidad de antenas receptoras. Se forma una matriz de respuesta de canal entre las antenas transmisoras y las antenas receptoras, para generar una matriz de correlacion de canal conjunto entre las antenas transmisoras y las antenas receptoras utilizando una descomposicion de FFT por bloque (B-FFT) de la matriz de respuesta de canal. Se generan estimados de las secuencias transmitidas por microplaca provenientes de cada una de las antenas transmisoras, utilizando error cuadratico medio minimo (MMSE) y se combina la matriz de correlacion de canal conjunto. Los estimados combinados de las secuencias transmitidas por microplaca se comprimen para recuperar los datos transmitidos.
