Abstract: The process involves concentrating an optical signal (4) simultaneously in multiple focal points. The focal points are focused in different sample places. The examined sample (1) covers a substance, which is transferred from one state to another state. The two states differ from each other in optical characteristics. The substance is brought in the sample area, which is detected by the former state and the latter state is induced by the optical signal. The pupil functions of the individual focal points are modulated. An independent claim is also included for a microscope, e.g. fluorescence laser scanning microscope.
