Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a luminescent panel capable of arranging a picture element region in high density, with less uneven brightness, and no complex outside wiring, and provide its driving device and a color image display. CONSTITUTION:A luminescent panel has a plurality of through-holes 12a for exposing part of each filament 8 in an insulating plate 11 covering a plurality of filaments 8 arranged on a back base board 7, and each through-hole 12a forms one unit of a picture element region together with fluorescent material layers 13a-13c formed in the adjacency of the through-holes 12a. The fluorescent material layers 13a-13c of each picture element region are housed in a cavity 15a of a separating wall 14 formed on the insulating plate 11 and separated from an adjacent fluorescent material layer. The cavity 15a forms a discharge space by using a translucent front plate 16 installed on the separating wall 14 as a cover, each discharge space communicates with the through-hole 12a at its one end in the lengthy direction and faces an anode 17 formed on the lower surface of the front plate 16 at its other end.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To ensure extinguishing action of an AC type PDP form display device. CONSTITUTION:A plurality pairs of electrode groups, such as a pair of a discharge holding electrode 2a and a scanning electrode 1a arranged in parallel thereto, are arranged on the inside face of the first glass substrate and a protection film layer is provided on a dielectric layer for covering these electrode groups. A plurality pairs of electrodes such as a pair of an address electrode 7a, which is opposed to the protection film layer via discharge space and three- dimensionally crosses with the above electrode groups, and an extinguishing electrode 9a arranged in parallel thereto, are arranged on the inside face of the second glass substrate. In extinguishing action, electric discharge is generated between the discharge holding electrode 2a and the extinguishing electrode 9a.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a large perspective angle by forming a great number of thin cathodes in the inside of a surface plate for perspective and a great number of thin anodes perpendicular to them in the inside of a back plate, and further providing insulating layers in parts of the surfaces of the cathodes. CONSTITUTION:An envelope is formed by a back plate 1 and a surface plate 2 for perspective, and a great number of thin cathodes 7 arranged in the inside of the surface plate 2 in parallel are provided, in which parts of the surfaces opposing to anodes 8 are covered with insulating layers 9, and the anodes 8 perpendicular to the cathodes 7 are provided in the inside of the back plate 1 in a parallel direction, and further insulating bulkheads 10 for forming scanning spaces are provided along the anodes 8, and the a discharge tube for display is formed. And therefore only the portions in the region of both ends of the cathodes 7 are exploded to the side of the anodes 8 and it is possible to obtain a large perspective angle even if the high density is made in the electrode arrangement because the cathode glow is generated in the only exploded region in discharging, and further it is possible to enlarge the area of each electrode and to reduce the resistance value.
