    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a method for driving a gas discharge type display device capable of enlarging allowable varying ranges of a pulse width and an amplitude of an erase pulse and obtaining a sufficient erase operation margin even when a characteristic of a discharge cell is dispersed. CONSTITUTION:This method is the method for driving the gas discharge type display device constituted so that a scan electrode group 2 and a maintenance electrode group 3 making a pair covered by a dielectric layer are arranged in parallel to each other on one side glass substrate l between a pair of glass substrates l opposing each other holding discharge space therebetween, and a data electrode group 7 is arranged on the other glass substrate 1 by orthogonally intersecting with and opposing to the scan electrode group 2 and the maintenance electrode group 3, and is constituted so that the erase operation is performed by applying the erase pulse of which variable time in a section from 10% to 90% of the amplitude is from 10mum or above to 10ms or below to the scan electrode group 2 or the maintenance electrode group 3.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a driving device for a plasma display panel capable of easily making into an IC, reducing a cost and without destroying a scan electrode drive circuit even when short-circuiting between scan electrodes.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve displaying quality without generating a writing defect and an erasing defect by executing a step making a discharge current flow in a direction from a scanning electrode group to a data electrode group and a step making a discharge current flow in the direction from a data electrode group to a scanning electrode group in all discharge cells. SOLUTION: A lead terminal part 13 of a scanning electrode and a lead terminal part 14 of a maintaining electrode are formed in a part of very small area in a longitudinal direction of a gas discharging type display device 1 along the both end sides of a glass substrate 2 and a lead terminal part of a data electrode is formed on the front surface of another glass substrate 11. Consequently, a part having an extremely small area becomes an invalid display area and an valid area 19 is made large. A step making a discharge current flow in a direction from a scanning electrode group to a data electrode group and a step making a discharge current flow in a direction from a data electrode group to a scanning electrode group are executed in all discharge cells. Consequently, in all discharge cells, a wall electric charge and a spacial electric charge are regularly replenished.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the cost of an auxiliary positive electrode drive circuit by installing a push-pull circuit which drives the common line, and an auxiliary positive electrode drive circuit and a positive electrode drive circuit which output driver voltage based on the voltage of the common line. SOLUTION: The common line COM driven by a push-pull circuit 3 which is composed from a high side P-FET Fp and the low side N-FET FN is connected to a power recovery circuit 4. In addition, it is connected with an auxiliary positive electrode drive circuit 5 and a positive electrode circuit 6 which output the driving voltage using this common line COM. The auxiliary positive electrode drive circuit 5 is constituted from a step-up transformer Tr alone, and the N-FET FN does not necessitate a level shifter because its source side is at the ground potential. And since the common line COM is connected with a power recovery circuit, none of the resistor group and the diode group are unnecessary in the positive drive circuit 6.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To lower the peak value of discharge current by dividing at least either one of a scanning electrode and a maintaining discharge electrode into plural groups in a maintaining discharge period and providing a phase difference between pulse voltages to be applied. CONSTITUTION:A positive polarity charge image is stored on the surface of a protection film layer, and many scanning electrodes are divided into four scanning electrode groups in the maintaining discharge period succeeding to the write period, and negative pulse voltages Vs shown by SCN(A)-SCN(D) are applied to respective scanning electrode groups. In this case, the phase difference is provided so that the rise time of the negative pulse voltage Vs of the SCN(A), the rise time of the negative pulse voltage Vs of the SCN(B), the rise time of the negative pulse voltage Vs of the SCN(C) and the rise time of the negative pulse voltage Vs of the SCN(D) are delayed successively. Further, in an erasure period, a negative narrow width erasure pulse voltage Ve is applied to all maintaining discharge electrodes.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a luminescent panel capable of arranging a picture element region in high density, with less uneven brightness, and no complex outside wiring, and provide its driving device and a color image display. CONSTITUTION:A luminescent panel has a plurality of through-holes 12a for exposing part of each filament 8 in an insulating plate 11 covering a plurality of filaments 8 arranged on a back base board 7, and each through-hole 12a forms one unit of a picture element region together with fluorescent material layers 13a-13c formed in the adjacency of the through-holes 12a. The fluorescent material layers 13a-13c of each picture element region are housed in a cavity 15a of a separating wall 14 formed on the insulating plate 11 and separated from an adjacent fluorescent material layer. The cavity 15a forms a discharge space by using a translucent front plate 16 installed on the separating wall 14 as a cover, each discharge space communicates with the through-hole 12a at its one end in the lengthy direction and faces an anode 17 formed on the lower surface of the front plate 16 at its other end.
