    Abstract: Provided herein is a coated stent comprising a stent comprising a plurality of stent struts each having an abluminal surface, a luminal surface, and two sidewall surfaces, and a coating comprising an active agent and a bioabsorbable polymer wherein a ratio of an abluminal coating thickness on the abluminal surface to a luminal coating thickness on the luminal surface is at most 90:10. Also provided herein are methods of preparing said coated stents.

    Abstract: Abstract A method for depositing a coating comprising a polymer and impermeable dispersed solid on a substrate, comprising the following steps: discharging at least one 5 impermeable dispersed solid in dry powder form through a first orifice; discharging at least one polymer in dry powder form through a second orifice; depositing the polymer and/or impermeable dispersed solid particles onto said substrate, wherein an electrical potential is maintained between the substrate and the impermeable dispersed solid and/or polymer particles, thereby forming said coating; and sintering said coating under 10 conditions that do not disrupt the activity and/or function of the substrate. A similar method is provided for depositing a coating comprising a hydrophobic polymer and a water-vapor-trapping material on a substrate.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a method of preparing a device comprising a stent and a plurality of layers that form a laminate coating on said stent; said method comprising: (a) providing a stent; (b) discharging at least one pharmaceutical agent and/or at least one active biological agent in dry powder form through a first orifice; (c) forming a supercritical or near supercritical fluid solution comprising at least one supercritical fluid solvent and at least one polymer and discharging said supercritical or near supercritical fluid solution through a second orifice under conditions sufficient to form solid particles of the polymer; (d) depositing the polymer and pharmaceutical agent and/or active biological agent particles onto said substrate, wherein an electrical potential is maintained between the substrate and the polymer and pharmaceutical agent and/or active biological agent particles, thereby forming said coating; and (e) sintering said coating under conditions that do not substantially modify a morphology of said pharmaceutical agent and/or activity of said biological agent.

    Abstract: Devices, coatings, and methods therefore comprise a medical device for delivering nanoparticles of an active agent to a treatment site. A coating on the medical device comprises active agent nanoparticles, which delivers coating to the treatment site and releases active agent nanoparticles into the treatment site over at least one day. A coating may comprise a polymer, a surfactant, and the nanoparticles. The coating may be prepared by forming a nanoemulsion. A coating may comprise encapsulated active agent nanoparticles which comprise active agent nanoparticles encapsulated in a polymer. The coating may have a positive surface charge. The coating may deliver active agent nanoparticles into the treatment site over at least about one day. The coating may be formed of a surfactant and nanoparticles mixture. The active agent nanoparticles may be deposited on the medical device using electrostatic capture.
