Abstract: PURPOSE:A specific amount of inert inorganic particles of specific sizes is added to a polyester and they are made into fiber, then lengthwise depressions are formed on its surface to produce ultra-fine polyester fiber with improved color development, increased yarn strength and fibrilation properties on alkali treatment. CONSTITUTION:Inert inorganic fine particles of less than 100mmu average primary particle size such as hydrophobic dry-process silica with alkyl groups and blocked silanol groups on the surface are added by 0.12-0.50wt% on the polymerization of polyester to give a polyester, preferably containing less than 150 of coarse particles (secondary particles) of more than 40mu sizes paer gram. The polyester is made into fiber and the surface is eluted with, e.g., caustic soda to give the objective polyester fiber of less than 0.1 denier filament fineness with many of fine lengthwise depressions along the fiber axis on the surface, preferably with an intrinsic viscosity of more than 0.57.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a heat-sensitive stencil printing base paper having image cleanness formed of a non-woven fabric of superior stretchability and processability and of an extremely small number of shots. SOLUTION: A non-woven fabric of 7-40 μm average fiber diameters and 30% fiber diameter fluctuation rate or less and substantially being not oriented and a thermoplastic film are laminated together and then oriented. The non- woven fabric used in the above method is manufactured by adjusting the hot gas flow rate per 1 cm width of orifice lines to 0.005-0.1 Nm3/minute in the manufacturing method for the melt blow non-woven fabric to be collected into the sheet shape to a movable collection face while a thermoplastic polymer is fibrillated finely.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a stencil paper for thermal screen printing excellent in image sharpness and low in production cost without using an adhesive at all. CONSTITUTION: In stencil paper fo.r thermal screen printing consisting of a polyester film layer and a porous support layer composed of a polyester fiber formed into a reticulated structure wherein fibers are mutually fused at the contact points thereof, the polyester fiber forming the porous support layer has a core-sheath structure and the porous support layer has pleats at fused parts.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable the production of a number of various kinds of polyester fibers without changing the spinning speed by properly adjusting the position of a heating cylinder corresponding to the kind of the fiber to be produced. CONSTITUTION:In the melt-spinning of a polyester comprising the reheating of a cooled and solidified polyester, a heating cylinder composed of an outer cylinder 10 and an inner cylinder 11 is used and a yarn Y is introduced into the inner cylinder 11 to induce a circulation flow in the heating cylinder and attain a temperature gradient in the heating cylinder satisfying the formula Tc-Ti>=3.0(To-Tc), wherein Tc ( deg.C) is atmospheric temperature in the inner cylinder at the center of the heating cylinder; Ti ( deg.C) is atmospheric temperature at the inlet port of the heating cylinder; T0 ( deg.C) is the atmospheric temperature at the outlet port of the heating cylinder. Since a yarn having practically sufficient residual elongation is producible by this process, the exchange success ratio of an automatic exchanging winder is remarkably improved.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent a skin.core structure from producing and readily obtain high-strength PVA-based fiber by dry spinning an aqueous solution of PVA having a specified degree of polymerization and degree of saponification and a hydrophilic surfactant and then drawing the resultant fiber. CONSTITUTION:PVA having >=1500, preferably 2000-12000 average degree of polymerization and >=99 mol% degree of saponification and a hydrophilic surfactant at 0.05-10wt.% polymer ratio are mixed and dissolved in water. The polymer concentration is preferably 10-40wt.%. The obtained solution is used as a spinning solution and dry spun to provide dry yarn having a high level of drawability. The resultant dry yarn is then drawn preferably at 2.5-5 times draw ratio. Thereby, high-strength PVA-based fiber having >=12g/d tensile strength is obtained by using the compact apparatus.
