    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the quality of treated water and to prolong the service life of a precoat. CONSTITUTION:An aq. soln. is purified by a precoated filter. The precoat is formed with a powdery ion-exchange resin A and an ion-exchange fiber B consisting of an ion-exchange polymer and a reinforcing polymer, and at least the ion-exchange fiber B is precoated by the body feed method.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the column for producing ultra-pure water which easily produces the high-purity water extremely approximate to the theoretically pure water at a high velocity of flow and obviates the fresh elution of impurities by integrating a UV lamp, ion exchanger, precision filter membrane and/or ultrafilter membrane in this order. CONSTITUTION:The water to be treated is irradiated with UV rays 4 and the org. impurities contained therein are decomposed by oxidation. The org. acids and carbon dioxide formed by the oxidation decomposition and the other impurities in the water to be treated are then treated by the ion exchanger 6 and are further subjected to the final filtration by the precision filter membrane and/or ultrafilter membrane 9. The ultra-pure water is thus obtd. without using piping systems for transferring the water to the ensuing stages. The need for pipings and joints is eliminated by the above-mentioned integration and, therefore, the extremely compact column for producing the ultra-pure water is provided. In addition, the degradation in the water quality by the pollution with the impurities eluted from the members, etc., are prevented.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To exactly remove ionic substance, TOC, fine particles and dissoluble silica by raising the pressure of pure water produced in a pure water producing equipment with a high-pressure pump and thereafter treating this pure water by an ion exchanger and then treating the pure water with a reverse osmotic membrane. CONSTITUTION:Pure water produced in a pure water producing equipment 1 constituted of a water treating equipment and ion exchange resin, etc., is stored in a pure water tank 2 and thereafter supplied to a high-pressure pump 3. This pure water raised in pressure with the high-pressure pump 3 is treated by an ion exchanger 4 to remove ionic substance which is considered to have been eluted from the parts of the high-pressure pump 3. Then ultra pure water is obtained by removing TOC in pure water with a reverse osmotic membrane 5. Further fine particles, microorganisms and dissoluble silica can be removed at extremely low consn. by both of the ion exchanger 4 and the reverse osmotic membrane 5. This obtained ultra pure water can be widely utilized for the fields of electronic industry, medicines and analysis, etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To selectively collect a mutagenic substance present in air, by using a filter comprising a cation exchange fiber as a constitutional component. CONSTITUTION:The quantity of the cation exchange group in a filter is pref. 1meq/g on an average and the relation of the wt. Wg/m and the thickness Hmm of the filter is selected so as to satisfy the formula 0.0017 . When this structure is not satisfied, the number of contact times with the mutagenic substance becomes insufficient and the possibility of leakage is generated. In addition, if 1- 60wt% of moisture is contained in the cation exchange fiber, capacity can be increased.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled novel copolyester, consisting of a p-oxybenzoic acid unit component and two specific copolymerization components, capable of giving fibers having improved dynamic characteristics at high temperature, and scarcely sticking in the heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:p-Acetoxybenzoic acid, 4,4'-diacetoxybiphenyl and 3,4'-and/or 4,4'-hydroxydibenzoic acid are deacetylated and polymerized to give the aimed copolyester consisting of (A) 50-74mol% structural units expressed by formulaI, (B) 13-25mol% structural units expressed by formula II and (C) 13- 25mol% structural units expressed by formula III (p,m- and/or p,p-forms). The polymerization temperature may be usually 280-360 deg.C, and preferably increased as the melting point of the polymer increases with increasing polymerization degree.
