    Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase a margin of screen effectiveness at diagonal parts by providing the diagonal parts of a supporting frame with the following parts: flat parts where elastic holders are fixed nearly in parallel with a tube axis, and salient parts which are jointed with a shadow mask and projected in the direction of the panel's diagonal parts. CONSTITUTION:Four diagonal parts are provided with flat parts 18, and salient parts 10 which are projected in the direction of panel's diagonal parts, that is, outwardly. Inner walls of these salient parts 19 are welded with an outer wall of a skirt part 10 which is formed by folding a peripheral part of a shadow mask 2. The shadow mask 2 is fixed on a supporting frame 13. Elastic holders 14 fixed on the flat parts 18 of the supporting frame 13 are provided with respective holes 15 on the opposite side of the supporting frame 13 and made to engage with respective stud pins 17, so that the shadow mask and the supporting frames are suspended at a prescribed position. Hence, a margin of an effective diameter on each diagonal part can be increased.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To effectively suppress the doming of a shadow mask and prevent color purity deterioration such as color drift and irregularity by making the center section and peripheral section of the main face effective section of the shadow mask of an electron absorbing layer different in thickness. CONSTITUTION:An electron absorbing layer is formed on the electron gun 6 side of the main face effective section of shadow masks 7, and the center section and peripheral section of the main face effective section of this electron absorbing layer are made different in thickness. That is, the film thickness of the electron absorbing layer is gradually decreased from the center of a screen to the periphery, and this equipotential distribution 27 is formed slantly to a shadow mask 25. An electron beam 26 is strongly deflected in the direction apart from a tube axis 21 by this equipotential distribution 27, i.e., decelerating electric field. Therefore, the landing position 26a of the electron beam expected to be moved toward the tube axis 21 from the preset landing position 23a by a doming phenomenon is offset to be returned to the original landing position 23a again. Accordingly, the mislanding of the electron beam can be suppressed and reduced even if a doming phenomenon occurs.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a stable deflecting device with little heat generation by providing a porous layer on the outer surface of a funnel facing the deflecting device. CONSTITUTION:A film having a heat radiation ratio larger than that of a funnel 2 is provided on the outer surface of the funnel 2 constituting a CRT. That is, a ceramic layer 11 containing silicon and zirconium metallic oxides is formed on the outer surface facing the deflecting device 10 of the funnel 2 of the CRT. This funnel 2 is connected to a panel 1 with frit glass, and after exhausting and sealing, predetermined processes such as fitting of an explosion-proof band 14 are performed to obtain a color picture tube. Thereby, the specific surface area of the ceramic layer 11 formed on the surface of the funnel 2 is about 50 times or more that of the funnel 2 made of glass, i.e., the surface area of the ceramic layer 11 is 50 times or more that of the funnel 2, and the heat dissipation capacity is largely improved. Accordingly, heat generation of the deflecting device is reduced even at the high horizontal deflection frequency.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress the deterioration of color purity and improve the withstand voltage and life characteristic by providing a porous ceramic layer containing silicon and zirconium metallic oxides on an inner magnetic shielding body. CONSTITUTION:A porous ceramic layer is provided on the surface of an inner magnetic shielding body 11 arranged so as to encircle an electron beam passing region between an electron gun 6 and a fluorescent screen 4 illuminated by an electron beam emitted from the electron gun 6. That is, the porous ceramic layer formed on the surface of the inner magnetic shielding body 11 has a specific surface area about 50 times that of the inner magnetic shielding body 11, and its heat absorbing ratio is good, thus the temperature rise of a shadow mask is largely suppressed, and the unstable gas in the tube can be absorbed effectively. Accordingly, the purity drift characteristic is improved and the emission life characteristic is also improved.

CONSTITUTION:The distance D2 from the boundary 12e between the coupling section 12c of a holder 12 and a connecting section 12b to the center axis 100 of a stud pin 10 is made larger than the distance D1 from the boundary 11e folded between the coupling section 11c of a holder 11 directly pressure-coupled without using a hooking member so that the center axis 110 of the opening 11d of a coupling section 11c nearly coincides with the center axis 100 of the stud pin 10. Thereby, the screen 4 side end section 13a of a hooking member 13 is separated from the boundary 12e between the coupling section 13c of the holder 12 and the connecting section 12b. Accordingly, work is facilitated even when the holder 12 is bent and a shadow mask 5 is fitted or removed in a panel 1.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To effectively inhibit the displacement of the electron beam resulting from doming and prevent any deformation of the electron beam which might be caused by abnormal charging by installing an electron-permeable low-conductivity layer principally composed of barium on an electron-absorbing layer which is formed on the electron-gun-side main surface of the shadow mask. CONSTITUTION:An electron permeable low-conductivity layer is formed on a layer principally composed of lead borate glass and formed on the electron-gun side surface of a shadow mask 5. It is formed by placing a boat filled with a dispersion getter containing a metallic compound of Ba and Al and Ni in a ratio by weight of about 1 to 1 facing the shadow mask and subjecting the dispersion getter to high frequency heating after evacuation. Due to the electron-absorbing layer 14-1 formed on the electron-gun-side main surface of the shadow mask 5, the shadow mask 5 negatively charges in accordance with the density of the electron current. The thickness of the layer 14-1 is at least the average depth of electron invasion. Negative charges in the tube-axis-16-side surface of the penetrating hole 15 of the shadow mask 5 deflect the orbit 10a of the electron beam 11 away from the tube axis 16 and push the beam 11 toward the original landing point 12. When the low-conductivity layer 14-2 principally consists of barium, it is recommended that the thickness of the layer 14-2 be within the range of 1-100mug/cm .

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the image reproduction of a color cathode-ray tube by adjusting the angle between the movable piece of a thin elastic member and the tube axis and the angle between an electron beam and the tube axis according to a given formula. CONSTITUTION:The side wall of a shadow mask 15 having a thermal expansion coefficient of alpham for 200 deg.C is fixed to a mask frame 17 having a thermal expansion coefficient of alphaf for the above temperature range. A thin elastic member 22 is installed between a mask frame 17 and a stud pin 10 which is buried in the inner surface of the panel 1. The angle (alpha) between the movable piece 22a of the member 22 and the tube axis 20 and the angle (beta) between the tube axis 20 and an electron beam 24 passing through the outermost opening of the shadow mask 15 located near the member 22 are adjusted according to the formula. Due to the above structure, the image reproduction of the color cahtode-ray tube is improved.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce doming by approximately equalizing the time constant of displacement of electron beam due to thermal deformation of shadowmask with that due to charging of electron absorbing layer provided on the shadowmask. CONSTITUTION:A shadowmask 7 to be arranged closely to the screen 4 of color picture tube is formed by providing an electron absorbing layer composed of lead borate glass containing at least SnO2 on main face at the electron gun side. Mislanding due to doming of shadowmask 7 is reduced through deceleration field produced by negative charging of electron absorption layer. Here, SnO2 is added by 5-20wt% into the electron absorption layer to vary the resistivity thus to approximately equalize the time constant of mislanding due to doming with that of suppressing function of electron absorption layer. Consequently, color shift or uneven color of screen can be eliminated easily without sacrifice of workability.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve degradation of color purity such as shifted color or uneven color by providing a grey black film composed of aluminum-ferro metallic compound onto at least one main face of shadowmask thereby easily reducing doming of shadowmask at initial operating stage. CONSTITUTION:Main face at the electron gun side of shadowmask arranged near the screen 4 while facing is applied with aluminum to execute blackening. The aluminum is deposited onto the surface of shadowmask at the electron gun side in a vacuum chamber upon formation of the shadowmask into spherical face through plastic machining and executing degreasing through tricren. Upon heating in hydrogen furnace, iron and aluminum are dispersed each other to produce porous grey black aluminum-ferro metallic compound such as FeAl3, Fe2Al5, FeAl2 on the surface of shadowmask. The shadowmask having such compound layer has high thermal conductivity and thermal radiation rate on the surface thus to enable effective conduction of heat produced through collision of electron beam to the circumferential portion or to radiate from the surface of shadowmask.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent color purity from deteriorating by providing a glass layer sealed in connected to the main face on the side of an electron gun of a shadow mask through high temperature heat treatment and setting on its surface of a coating layer with specific conductivity. CONSTITUTION:The thermal expansion coefficient of a shadow mask 5 made up of a cold rolling steel plate is about 1.2X10 / deg.C, while the thermal expansion coefficient of lead borate glass with PbOwt% of 70-80% is 0.7-1.2X10 / deg.C, generating residual tensile stress in the shadow mask and residual compressive stress in glass after sealing. Accordingly, thermal expansion in the initial stage of temperature rise of the shadow mask due to an electron beam is suppressed and a doming phenomenon is suppressed. When, however, the part of the locally high density of an electron current is generated, the doming phenomenon is generated in said part but as a coating layer 14-2 with conductivity of 10 -10 OMEGA m is formed on the surface of the coating layer 14-1, the negative charge, which is negatively electrified corresponding to the electron current density while being electrified on the surface on the side of the tube axis 16 of a through hole 15, deflects an orbit 10a in the direction to keep an electron beam 11 away from the tube axis 16. Accordingly, mislanding of the electron beam can be suppressed and reduced.
