    Abstract: PURPOSE: To make it possible to separate trace amount of sample, to separate many components in a single sample and to detect it online by providing inlet and outlet block and a connecting member adapted to connect to a capillary in a cartridge. CONSTITUTION: A cartridge 10 has two flat plates 30, 31 of rectangular shape and including ends 32, 33 raised along the entire boundaries. An inner chamber having sufficient depth to accommodate capillary tubes 36 in recess parts 34, 35 specified by the ends 32, 33 in contact when the cartridge 10 is assembled is formed. The tube 36 is formed at least in one loop-like ring state and the loop is regulated to be extended to cover the most of the region of the cartridge 10. The two plates 30, 31 of the cartridge 10 respectively have windows 46, 46, a vertical optical path is formed on the flat surface of the plate when the plates 30, 31 are connected, and disposed to cross the tube at the detecting point near the one end of the tube. The wide areas of the plates 30, 31 and the plate material having expansion coefficient similar to that of epoxy and glass expedite the stabilization and average of the temperature difference along the length of the tube.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To quickly analyze a wide range of drugs by combinedly arranging an anion-exchange column, a reversed phase column, and a cation-exchange column in this order and selecting column media, carrier liquid, and identifying means. CONSTITUTION: Solvents and carrier liquids in three tanks 19-21 are sent to a sampling device 28 through a selection valve 25 and reach the entrance of a four-way valve 31 through an eight-way valve 30 and a preceding-stage column 15 after the device 28 collects a fixed amount of sample. On the other hand, a carrier liquid of a prescribed concentration in a liquid tank 23 reaches the valve 31 through a pump 24 and successively carries a liquid containing the sample through an anion-exchange column 12, a reverse phase column 13, and a cation-exchange column 14 in a housing 11. The columns 12-14 are filled up with prescribed materials and the effluent from the column 14 is scanned with ultraviolet rays from a scanning ultraviolet-ray detector 35. Acquired information is inputted to a computer monitor 37 and the kinds and amounts of drugs are decided. The analyzed results are printed by means of a printer 38.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To separate and collect a liquid sample by holding a plurality of liquid collection tubes so that they pass consecutively under a measuring/ dispensing head along a specified track. CONSTITUTION: The fraction collector 10 comprises a basic unit 12 and a turn table 14 for turning a plurality of liquid collection tubes CT arranged in spiral pattern on the unit 12 while keeping verticality. A measuring/dispensing head 16 is coupled with the flexible tube T of a liquid chromatography column and discharged a fluid into the liquid collection tubes CT under the head 16. The table 14 defines a spiral channel along with a bottom panel 82 and a continuous spiral wall 80 and when the table 14 is turned counterclockwise by driving a capstan 68 through a motor 70, a channel under the head 16 is shifted from an inner end point 88 to an outer end point 86. Furthermore, a recess is made in the top 44 of unit 12 as a receiver 46 and when the liquid collection tube CT is not present, fluid discharged from the table 14 or head 16 can be discharged from the receiver 46 to the outside through a drainage groove 50.

SOLUTION: This new polyether nucleic acid comprises a polyether skeleton, having the formula [(n) is an integer of >1; B1 to Bn are each a chemical functional group and at least one of B1 to Bn is a natural nucleobase, a nucleobase binding group or a DNA inserting factor; Y1 to Yn are each the first linker group; X1 to Xn are each the second linker group; C1 to Cn are each a chiral carbon atom; K and I are each the first and the second exoconjugant] and carrying a plurality of ligands individually bound to the chiral carbon atom located in the skeleton and at least one of the ligands contains components such as the natural nucleobase, nucleobase binding group and DNA inserting factor. The polyether nucleic acid is useful as an antisense oligonucleotide analog, etc., capable of controlling the gene expression in the fields of biochemistry and medicine.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure fluorescence, luminescence and an absorption characteristic of a sample at a plurality of positions in a single sample well of a microplate, by setting an arrangement tool for moving a relative position of a sample-fixing tool and a detector. SOLUTION: A radiation from a light source 105 illuminates a sample 101 through an adjustment section 107 and an optical component 109. A fluorescence and/or a luminescence from the sample 101 forms an image on a detector 111 through an optical component 113 and an adjustment section 115. A second detector 117 is arranged below the sample 101 and used for the measurement of absorption. A fixing tool 103 is connected to a pair of arrangement tools 123 and the arrangement tools 123 allow the sample 101 to move within two orthogonal directions (X, Y) to the light source 105 and detectors 111, 117. A data processor 125 controls the system and is used to store data output from the detectors 111, 117.
