    Abstract: Polyethers with are suitable as oil demulsifiers are obtainable by reacting (A) a polyalkylene oxide obtained from ethylene oxide and propylene oxide and containing in total from 5 to 200 alkylene oxide units with (B) an alkylolation product of a low molecular weight aldehyde and a bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-methane of the general formula II wherein R1 and R2 may be identical or different and are each hydrogen, low molecular weight alkyl, phenyl, carboxyl or low molecular weight alkoxycarbonyl, the molar reaction ratio of the compound of the formula II to the alkylolating aldehyde being from 1:1 to 1:4, at from 100 DEG to 180 DEG C. in the presence of an acidic catalyst with removal of the water of reaction, the weight ratio of A to B being from 5:1 to 1:3.

    Abstract: The alkoxylate mixture contains 0.1 to 99.9 wt. % of at least one alkoxylate of general formula (I) C n H2n+1O(A)x(B)y H, wherein: A represents ethyleneoxy; B represents C3-C1O alkyleneoxy or mixtures thereof, whereby groups A and B can exist in a statistically distributed or alternating form or in the form of two or more blocks arranged in any order; n represents a whole number ranging from 8 to 11; x represents a number ranging from 1 to 20, and; y represents a number ranging from 0 to 10. The alkoxylate mixture also contains 0.1 to 99.9 wt. % of at least one alkoxylate of general formula (II) C m H2m+1O(A)v(B)w H, wherein: A represents ethyleneoxy; B represents C3-C10 alkyleneoxy or mixtures thereof, whereby groups A and B can exist in a statistically distributed or alternating form or in the form of two or more blocks arranged in any order; m represents a whole number ranging from 12 to 24; v represents a number ranging from 1 to 50, and; w represents a number ranging from 0 to 10.
