    Abstract: The invention relates to fuels for spark-ignition engines, containing small quantities of copolymers of alkyl (meth)acrylates having 8 to 40 C atoms in the alkyl radical and/or vinyl esters of carboxylic acids containing 8 to 40 C atoms and monoethylenically unsaturated mono- and/or di-carboxylic acids having 3 to 12 C atoms and/or monoethylenically unsturated compounds with sulphonic and/or phosphonic acid groups, having a total molecular mass from 500 to 20,000 g per mole, the carboxyl groups, sulphonic acid groups and phosphonic acid groups of the copolymers having been wholly or partially reacted with alkali or an alkaline earth to form the alkali metal salts or alkaline earth metal salts and the remainder of the acid groups having been reacted with ammonia and/or amines having up to 50 C atoms to give the corresponding amide groups and/or ammonium salts.

    Abstract: Title derivs. (I) have formula R1OAm1-Bn-Am2-CH2-CHOH-CH2-OR2 (in which R1 and R2 are opt. different 12-24C alkyl gps. A is an ethylene oxide and B is a propylene oxide unit; m1 and m2 are opt. different integers from 0 to 15 and n an integer from 20 to 45). This gives max. effect with min. consumption has great inertness towards emulsions and dispersions; is applicable in a very wide concn. range; has min. hydrophilic character, hence no disadvantages in printing or soiling; good dispersibility in staining colours and not too high viscosity. Prepn. involves reaction of an oxyalkylated alcohol of formula R1-O-Am1-Bn-Am2-H with a glycidyl ether of formula R2-O-CH2-CH-CH2 in the presence of a Lewis acid.
