Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress production of highly condensed product and isomer and selectively obtain 4,4'-methylenedianiline in high yield, by reacting aniline with formaldehyde raw material in the presence of a fluorine-treated dealuminum Y type zeolite catalyst. CONSTITUTION:Aniline is reacted with formaldehyde raw material using a fluorine-treated dealuminum Y type zeolite as a catalyst at 20-300 deg.C for 0.1-40hr to provide the aimed product. The fluorine treated dealuminum Y type zeolite is a zeolite obtained by subjecting to Y type zeolite to dealuminum treatment and further subjecting the surface thereof to fluorine treatment and has 5.5-20 SiO2/Al2O3 (molar ratio) and 0.1-30wt.% fluorine content. The formaldehyde raw material is formaldehyde-containing raw material capable of reacting with aniline, e.g., formalin aqueous solution, trioxan or N,N- diphenylmethylenediamine.

CONSTITUTION: In the presence of (A) a catalyst consisting of such a binuclear μ-oxomanganese complex in which two molecules of a cyclic triamine compound each having three nitrogen atoms in the molecule are coordinated with manganese ions, respectively, with the number ratio: manganese ions/coordinated nitrogen atoms of (1:3) [e.g. a catalyst consisting of a complex of formula I (R -R are each H, a 1-8C alkyl, or alkenyl, a cycloalkyl, etc.; X and X are each O, OO, S, etc.; Y is an oxidatively stable monovalent or divalent counterion; (n) is 1 when Y is divalent, being 2 when Y is monovalent)], (B) a compound of formula II (P and Q are each H or an alkyl; (n) is 1-3; Ar is a n-valent aromatic hydrocarbon group) is oxidized by (C) an oxygen-contg. gas to obtain the objective compound.

CONSTITUTION: (A) A compound of the formula (R , R are each H, an alkyl; Ar is an n-valent aromatic hydrocarbon group; (n) is 1-3), for example, cumene, cymene, is oxidized with (C) an oxygen-containing gas, for example, air in the presence of a catalyst of (B) a polynuclear metal complex which is prepared by adding 2 moles of an alkaline earth metal hydroxide (B1 ) to an aqueous solution of 1 mole of a polydentate ligand such as 1,3-diamino-2-hydroxypropane- N,N,N',N'-tetraacetic acid, neutralizing the solution, adding 2 moles of a metal selected from Co, Ru, Cu, Cr, V and Fe to the solution, adding acetic anhydride thereto, then adding B1 excessively to make the solution alkaline, further adding hydrogen peroxide and a poor solvent for the metal complex to be formed.

The reaction is carried out in the presence of a silylating agent to improve the yield. The compound is further treated in the presence of a fluoride ion to give the compound shown by formula VI.

USE:A ligand for producing a cobalt complex (formula II) useful as a catalyst for the production of a hydroxyl-containing compound from olefins. A hydroxyl- containing compound having functional group can be produced from an alpha-olefin having functional group by the use of said cobalt complex. PREPARATION:The objective compound of formula I can be produced by using a diketone compound having C number smaller than that of the objective beta- diketone compound by 4 and acetylating both molecular terminals of the diketone compound with an alkyl trifluoroacetate.
