    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject substance easy to handle and usable for synthesis of highly pure phosphatidic acid, by making glycerol-3-hosphate which is highly hygroscopic and hard to handle, carry on a solid. SOLUTION: This substance is obtained by making glycerol-3-phosphate (hereafter, G3P) carry on a solid (preferably, silica gel, almina, Super Flow Cel, Celite or a resin), wherein, the solid is added to G3P solution (preferably, methanol, ethanol, propanol, butanol, etc., is preferably used as a solvent), then, the solvent is distilled for drying. The temperature for dying G3P is preferably 30-150 deg.C. By reacting the solid-carried G3P with an activated fatty acid (preferably, a chlorinated or bromated fatty acid anhydride), highly pure phosphatidic acid can be obtained in high yield.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound in high selectivity and yield in an industrially advantageous way using readily available and inexpensive raw materials by condensation reaction of a specific compound with γ-butyrolactone and an alkali metal alcoholate. SOLUTION: (A) A dicarboxylic ester of the formula ROOC(CH2 )n COOR ((n) is 7-13; R is an alkyl) (e.g. 1,12-dodecanediacid dimethyl ester) is agitated under heating followed by adding (B) γ-butyrolactone and (B) an alkali metal alcoholate (e.g. sodium methylate) to the component A to carry out a condensation reaction to obtain the objective compound. The reaction is pref. carried out under reduced pressures (pref. at 50-760 mmHg) while distilling the alcohol formed off the system; alternatively, for example, it is also preferable that, in the 1st step, a pressure is reduced under conditions enough to evaporate the alcohol formed, and in the 2nd step, the pressure is further reduced; namely, the pressure reduction is conducted in two or more steps.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound useful as an intermediate ester for a hydroxy fatty acid, which is an important intermediate for large cyclolactone- based perfumes. SOLUTION: This compound is shown by formula I [(n) is 10 or 11; and R is a 1-6C alkyl]. The compound shown by formula I is obtained by heating the γ-butylolactone section of an alkali metal salt of 2-(ω-alkoxycarbonyl alkanoyl)-4-butanolide shown by formula II [(n) is 10 or 11; R is an alkyl; and M is an alkali metal] [e.g. 2-(11-methoxycarbonyl undecanoyl)-γ-butylolactone, and 2-(12-methoxycarbonyl dodecanoyl)-γ-butylolactone] at 80 to 1-10 deg.C for 1 to 20 h, preferably in the presence of 0.5 to 1 equivalent of a weak acid (e.g. phosphoric, pyrophosphoric or carbonic acid), for selective hydrolysis and decarboxylation.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a complex useful as synthetic intermediate of p-hydroxy benzoic as a raw material of medicine, agrochemical material and liquid crystalline polymer, by mixing phenol with an alkali metal hydroxide in an aprotic polar solvent, and removing water therefrom. SOLUTION: This complex consisting of an alkali metal salt of phenol and an aprotic polar solvent and having 1:2 molar ratio of the alkali metal salt of phenol to the aprotic polar solvent, is obtained by mixing phenol and an alkali metal hydroxide such as sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide in the aprotic polar solvent such as dimethylsulfoxide, dimethylformamide and dimethylacetamide, and removing water therefrom.
