    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a film which can be cut off manually, easily and linearly and is superior in productivity, tenacity and heat resistance by a method wherein the value of birefringence of a biaxially oriented polyester film mainly composed of polyethylene terephthalate is made 0.04-0.10 and a thickness of the same is made 2-75mu by satisfying a specific formula. CONSTITUTION:An index of birefringence, tensile break strength in a main orientation tear direction (Tm), tensile break elongation in an auxiliary orientation direction of a biaxially oriented polyester film are established respectively as 0.04-0.10, 15-35kg/mm and 5%-70%. Then as the tensile break elongation (Em) in a main orientation direction is 80-170% and the tensile break strength in the auxiliary orientation direction is 4-20kg/mm , manual tear properties are improved. In addition, as stress (Fs) at the time of elongation of 5% in the auxiliary orientation direction exceeds break strength (Ts), the film is superior in productivity and tenacity. Thus the film which can be torn easily, linearly and manually can be obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:A film, obtained by blending a specific polyfluoride with a specific polyester, having a given waviness index and small surface energy at a contact point and improved slipperiness without impairing smoothness and suitable for video tapes, etc. CONSTITUTION:A biaxially oriented polyester film, consisting essentially of a composition consisting of (A) 0.03-3.0wt% polyfuoride, having 0.03-2.5mum average particle diameter and >=320 deg.C temperature at the time of 5% weight loss on heating and expressed by formula I (x is 1-2; y is 1-2) and (B) a polyester having structural units expressed by formula II (R is dicarboxylic acid residue selected from formulas III-VI) as main repeating units and having a waviness index within the range of 0.50-0.90. A polyfluoride having >=80 deg. contact angle to water is preferred for the component (A).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester with good lubricity, evenness, etc., by incorporating, during the polyester production process, a product prepared by blending terephthalic acid (derivative) with an alkali (alkaline earth) metal compound, phosphorus compound, and organic lubricating agent followed by heating treatment. CONSTITUTION:(A) Terephthalic acid (derivative) is dissolved, on heating, in >=20 molar times the terephthaloyl unit, of ethylene glycol. The resulting solution is incorporated, while stirring, with (B) 1-4 molar times the terephthaloyl unit, of an alkali (alkaline earth) metal compound (e.g. lithium acetate) followed by heating treatment of pref. 100-200 deg.C, and then adding (C) 1-4 molar times the terephthaloyl unit, of a phosphorus compound (e.g. phosphoric acid) and (D) 0.1-3wt. times the component B, of an organic lubricant (e.g. behenic acid) to the system followed by heating treatment, thus preparing a product as an additive. This additive is incorporated during the polyester production process e.g. before the polycondensation initiation, in such an amount as to be 0.005-0.5wt% calculated as the metal component in the component B, based on the polyester to be produced, thus obtaining the objective polyester.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polyester, having a high polymerization degree and rigidity and improved heat resistance and suitable for fibers, etc., by adding a metal compound soluble in a glycol to a specific compound and glycol. CONSTITUTION:A polyester obtained by mixing (A) a compound expressed by formula I (R1 and R2 are 1-4C alkyl) as a main acid component with (B) a glycol, e.g. ethylene glycol, adding (C) a metal compound, e.g. zinc acetate, soluble in the component (B)thereto so as to satisfy formula II [M is the total number of mol of the component (C) based on 10 g polyester] and further adding (D) a phosphoric acid compound, e.g. phosphoric acid, in an amount within the range expressed by formula III (P is the number of mol of the phosphoric acid compound based on 10 g polyester) to the resultant mixture and polycondensing the resultant mixture.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To completely get rid of secondary agglomerates by highly and finely dispersing fine silicon dioxide particles in the polymer, by adding an organosol of silicon dioxide and specified amounts of an alkali metal compound and a phosphorus compound to the reaction system of the polyester in any desired stage. CONSTITUTION:The following three components 1-3 in amounts satisfying the following relationships are added to the reaction system in any desired stage in the polymerization of a polyester. Namely, (1) an organosol of silicon dioxide prepared by replacing the eater in an aqueous dispersion sol of silicon dioxide having an average particle diameter of 5-500mmu with ethylene glycol and heating it to 150-200 deg.C during or after the step of replacing to decrease its water content, based on the silicon dioxide, to 7.0wt% or below, (2) an alkali metal compound and (3) a phosphorus compound are added to the reaction system so that relationships I and II (wherein M2O is a mol % of the alkali metal compound (in terms of an alkali metal oxide) in the formed polyester and P is a mol % of the phosphorus compound based on the formed polyester) may be satisfied.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To manufacture an oriented polyester film having excellent surface flatness and slippery as well as adhesivity, by using a polyester containing a specific inner particle source and a higher fatty acid compound. CONSTITUTION:The objective oriented polyester film having a surface roughness Ra of 0.003-0.025mum and a static friction coefficient mus of 0.10-0.70 is prepared from a polyester composed of (A) 100pts.wt. of a polyester, (B) 0.001- 1pt.wt. of inner particles or inert particles having an average particle diameter of 0.1-3mum and (B) 0.005-2pts.wt. of a metallic salt or a partial metallic compound composed mainly of a 18-33C higher fatty acid monocarboxylic acid or a higher fatty acid amide composed mainly of a 18-33C compound. The inner particle is the particle produced by the bonding of the component of the polyester with the Ca, Mg and/or Li compounds added to the reaction system in the synthesis of the polyester.
