    Abstract: An analog/digital gain control device avoid some of the requirements associated with the nature of a closed-loop AGC circuits and which meets the remaining requirements without much difficulty uses an analog to digital conversion method that increases the number of effective ADC bits by compressing the baseband input analog signal using a logarithmic circuit. After the compressed analog signal is converted into a digital signal, a digital anti-log process or look-up table (LUT) is used to expand the digital signal back to the original linear scale. The word size of the output of the anti-log process is larger than the input word size due to the nature of the anti-log function. To reduce the word size of the digital signal an open loop normalization technique can be applied.

    Abstract: Un metodo y aparato para corregir automaticamente la frecuencia de un oscilador local de un receptor. Se genera una secuencia de codigos de canal piloto comun primario (CPICH) por un generador de codigos de CPICH en base a una senal de identificacion de celda de referencia y una senal de inicio de cuadro. La secuencia de codigo de CPICH no propagada recibida se usa para generar una senal de error de frecuencia estimada. Un generador de voltaje de control en base a la senal de error de frecuencia estimada genera una senal de voltaje de control. El generador de codigo de CPICH genera la secuencia de codigos de CPICH en base a las senales recibidas de una celda de servicio de acceso de paquetes de enlace descendente de alta velocidad (HSDPA) cuando esta inactivo el HSDPA, o una celda de referencia de sincronizacion cuando no esta activo el HSDPA. La presente invencion logra ganancia completa de combinacion de relacion maxima cuando se usa diversidad de transmision de espacio-tiempo (STTD), aun sin recibir una indicacion de diversidad de transmision.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for compensating for phase noise of symbols spread with a long spreading code are disclosed. To compensate for the phase noise, a phase error estimate is generated from despread symbols with a short spreading code. A phase correcting phasor is applied to chip rate data before despreading the data with a long spreading code. A signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) on a common pilot channel (CPICH) may be calculated by spreading the data with a parent spreading code in an orthogonal variable spreading factor (OVSF) code tree and by combining symbols. Alternatively, a magnitude of the symbols may be used in estimating the SIR. The SIR of a channel using a short spreading code and an SIR of a channel using a long spreading code are measured. The SIR of the channel with the long spreading code may be compensated in accordance with a difference between degradation of the SIRs.

    Abstract: A wireless communication method and apparatus for generating a scheduling grant based on a relative grant are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) receives an absolute grant from a serving radio link set (RLS) and receives a relative grant from the serving RLS and at least one non-serving radio link (RL). The WTRU decodes enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) absolute grant channel (E-AGCH) signals to detect an absolute grant, and decodes E-DCH relative grant channel (E-RGCH) signals to detect at least one relative grant. The WTRU then calculates a serving grant based on the detected absolute grant and/or the relative grant(s). The relative grant may be detected by performing a hypothesis test on the E-RGCH signals. A multiple alternative hypothesis test is performed for detecting the E-RGCH signals from the serving RLS and a binary hypothesis test is performed for detecting the E-RGCH signals from the at least one non-serving RL.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for estimating and reporting the quality of a wireless communication channel between a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and a Node-B. A modulated signal is received from the Node-B over the communication channel and a channel estimation is performed on the modulated signal to provide a channel estimate. In one embodiment, the modulated signal is demodulated based on the channel estimate to provide a demodulated signal and a signal-to-interference (SIR) estimate based on the demodulated signal is obtained. The quality of the communication channel is estimated based on at least the SIR estimate. In an alternate embodiment, a SIR estimate based on the channel estimate is obtained. The quality of the communication channel is estimated based on the SIR estimate and additional information including at least one of delay spread, transmit power and WTRU velocity information.

These techniques allow for the data to be truncated prior to further processing reducing the data of the window.
