Abstract: Abstract The present invention provides for timely measurement of channel quality (CQ) and for signalling the information to the base station as appropriate. The present invention provides several embodiments to measure and signal the CQ per timeslot, or sub-channel, from the user equipment (UE) to the base station. Measurements may be performed at a high rate for all relevant timeslots or sub-channels, or may be made at a lower rate by selectively reducing the rate by which such measurements are performed. Abstract: Un equipo de usuario, UE, que comprende: medios para tomar una pluralidad de mediciones en base a una calidad de enlace descendente, en donde cada una de la pluralidad de mediciones se toma sobre un recurso respectivo de enlace descendente de una pluralidad de recursos de enlace descendente; medios para deducir una primera indicación de calidad de canal indicativa de una calidad de canal de la pluralidad de recursos de enlace descendente; medios para deducir una pluralidad de indicaciones de diferencia, siendo cada indicación de referencia entre la primera indicación de calidad de canal y una indicación de calidad de canal para uno de la pluralidad de recursos de enlace descendente, y medios para transmitir al menos un informe que incluye la primera indicación de calidad de canal y la pluralidad de indicaciones de diferencia, en donde, en el al menos un informe, cada indicación de diferencia de la pluralidad de indicaciones de diferencia se representa usando un menor número de bits que los usados para representar la primera indicación de calidad de canal.

Abstract: DYNAMIC CHANNEL QUALITY MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE FORA wireless digital communication method for communicating between abase station and a plurality of user equipment mobile terminals (UEs) and employsadaptive modulation and coding (AM&C) to achieve improved radio resourceutilization and provide optimum data rates for user services. Blocks of downlink(DL) data are received by the base station which requests downlink DL channelquality measurements only from those mobile terminals (UEs) with pendingdownlink transmissions. The UEs respond to the request by measuring andreporting DL channel quality to the base station, which then allocates resourcessuch that the UEs will make best use of radio resources. The base station notifiesthe UEs of the physical channel allocation indicating fee modulation/coding rateand allocated slots followed by transmission of blocks of downlink data which aretransmitted to the UEs.Fig. 1.

Abstract: Outer loop/weighted open loop power control controls transmission power levels in a spread spectrum time division duplex communication station. At a first communication station, errors are measured in a received communication from a second communication station. Based on in part the measured errors, an adjustment in a target level is determined. The first station transmits a communication and the target adjustment to the second station. The second station measures the first station's communication's received power level. Based on in part the received power level, a path loss is determined. The target level is adjusted in response to receiving the target adjustment. The quality of the path loss is determined with respect to a subsequent communication to be transmitted from the second station. The second station's transmission power level for the subsequent communication is adjusted based on in part the determined path loss, the determined quality and the adjusted target level.
