    Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for wireless positioning. In an aspect, a location server can request and/or a UE can provide sensor measurement information indicating an altitude of the UE before an assistance data transfer procedure. For example, the sensor measurement information may be requested in a request capabilities message and reported in a request assistance data message or a provide capabilities message. The sensor measurement information may be used to select transmitters having up-tilted antennas or to discard measurements from transmitters having down-tilted antennas.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may identify an intelligent reflecting surface device for communications with a user equipment. The base station may determine a reference signal configuration based on the identified intelligent reflecting surface device. The reference signal configuration may include a first set of parameters associated with the intelligent reflecting surface device. The base station may transmit, to the UE, the intelligent reflecting surface device, or both, one or more reference signals in accordance with the first set of parameters. The base station may identify a second set of parameters associated with one or more reflecting elements of the intelligent reflecting surface device.

    Abstract: Aspects described herein relate to communicating a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) corresponding to a downlink control channel, buffering, based on receiving the DMRS, samples of a downlink data channel associated with the downlink control channel, and processing, during on a time period indicated based at least in part on a sequence of the DMRS, at least a portion of the samples of the downlink data channel. Another aspect relates to determining, based at least in part on a sequence of the DMRS, a time offset from the downlink control channel to a downlink data channel, and determining, based at least in part on the time offset, a time period based on which to transmit or start processing samples of the downlink data channel.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for operating a user terminal in a satellite communication system during inter-beam handovers. In some aspects, the user terminal may determine an occurrence of an inter-beam handover for switching communication with a network controller of the satellite communication system from a first beam to a second beam. The user terminal measures a channel quality of the second beam based at least in part on the occurrence of the inter-beam handover, and sends the channel quality measurement to the controller via a reverse-link communication.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are disclosed for a user terminal (UT) to transmit data to a network controller via a satellite in a satellite system. The UT may begin transmitting, during a time period, a first portion of the data using contention-based resources of the satellite system prior to receiving a grant of scheduled return link resources of the satellite system. The UT may also transmit, on the contention-based resources, a buffer status report (BSR) during the time period. The UT may terminate data transmissions on the contention-based resources after an expiration of the time period or upon receiving the grant of scheduled return link resources. After receiving the grant, the UT may transmit a second portion of the data on the scheduled return link resources.
