    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester composition suitable as a base film for video tapes, etc., having a few voids, excellent evenness, slipperiness, shaving resistance, etc., by blending a polyester with two kinds of polystyrene particles having specific thermal decomposition temperatures and specific particle diameters. CONSTITUTION:A polyester comprising a bifunctional acid component (e.g., terephthalic acid) consisting essentially of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and one or more glycol components (e.g., ethylene glycol) is blended with (A) 0.001-2wt.%, preferably 0.005-1wt.% crosslinked polystyrene particles having 0.1-0.6mum, preferably 0.25-0.5mum m average particle diameter and >=380 deg.C thermal decomposition temperature and (B) 0.001-2wt.%, preferably 0.005-1wt.% crosslinked polystyrene particles having 0.6-2mum, preferably 0.6-1.5mum average particle diameter and >=380 deg.C thermal decomposition temperature.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester, having excellent flatness, slipperiness and electrical characteristics in forming into films and suitable as films for magnetic tapes, photography, etc., by adding inorganic particles, coated with a (hydrated) titanium oxide and having a specific particle diameter. CONSTITUTION:(A) Inorganic particles having 0.01-5mum average particle diameter (e.g. silicon dioxide or talc) is suspended in, e.g. an aqueous solution of titanyl sulfate, heated to form coating layers of (hydrated) titanium oxide on the surface thereof and, as desired, fired at a high temperature. The resultant particles are dispersed in, e.g. a dispersion medium (e.g. methanol) and then added to a system in which (B) a bifunctional acid component consisting essentially of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid (derivative) (e.g. terephthalic acid) and (C) a glycol component, such as ethylene glycol, are being polymerized to afford the aimed polymer. The amount of the above-mentioned inorganic particles added to the system is 0.001-5wt.% based on the resultant polyester.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:The titled composition capable of forming a film having improved transparency, evenness and electrical characteristics, comprising a polyester, a functional group-containing silicone compound and an organic lubricant. CONSTITUTION:A polyester having ethylene terephthalate as a main repeating unit is blended with (A) a functional group-containing silicon compound, preferably gamma-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxyslane or methyltrimethoxysilane and an organic lubricant, preferably a higher fatty acid (e.g. capric acid or lauric acid) or a higher alcohol (e.g. octanol or dodecanol). Methoxy group, ethoxy group, silanol group, etc., and vinyl group, epoxy group, amino group, etc., may be cited as the functional group of the component A. When the component A contains two or more functional groups, the groups are preferably selected from both the groups. 100pts.wt. polyester is blended with 0.001-5pts.wt., especially 0.005-0.5pt.wt. component A and 0.001-10pts.wt., especially 0.005-1.0pt.wt. component B.
