Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a flash fixing device without the lowering of fixing performance of toner to recording paper because of no generation of soil of a glass plate caused by the adhesion of toner by setting the surface resistance of at least one face of the glass plate opposed to the recording paper, to a specified value. CONSTITUTION:The flash fixing device is formed out of a heating source for heating toner 5 developed on recording paper 4 by flashlight to fix the toner 5 on the recording paper 4, and a glass plate 3 covering a part of the heating source and opposed to the recording paper 4. The surface resistance of at least one face of the glass plate 3 is to be 10 OMEGA/square inch or less. With the surface resistance of at least one face of the glass plate 3 thus reduced to prevent the substantial electrification of the glass plate 3, the grain of the toner 5 does not electrostatically adhere to the glass plate 3, so that the soil of the glass plate 3 is not generated. The surface resistance of the glass plate 3 has to be 10 OMEGA/square inch or less at least on one face, but it is desirable to be 10 OMEGA/square inch or less, further desirably 10 OMEGA/square inch or less.

CONSTITUTION:Resin composition contains 20-60 pts.wt. resin formed of polymer (1,4-cyclohexilenedimethyleneterephthalate) base polyester and polymer (phenylenesulfide): the addition of the polymer (phenylenesulfide) does not exceed that of polymer (1,4-cyclohexilenedimethyleneterephthalate) base polyester. It also contains 1-35 pts.wt. glass fiber and 5-79 pts.wt. other non-organic reinforcing material than the glass fiber.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject polymer having excellent mechanical and thermal properties, moldable by melt-molding and suitable as an engineering plastics etc., by copolymerizing plural structural units at a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION:The objective polymer having a melt viscosity of 30-30,000 poise is produced by polymerizing (A) 4-hydroxy-4'-diphenyl carboxylic acid forming the structural unit of formula I, (B) chlorohydroquinone, etc., forming the structural unit of formula II (X is group of formula III, etc.), (C) terephthalic acid, etc., forming the structural unit of formula IV (n is 1 or 2) and, as necessary, (B) p-hydroxybenzoic acid, hydroquinone, isophthalic acid, etc., forming the structural units of formula V, VI (m is 1 or 2) and VII (Y is group of formula VIII, etc.) e.g. by melt-polymerization method. The ratios of I/V, (I+V)/(I+V +VI+II) and IV/VII in the obtained polymer are 2/8 to 10/0, 2/8 to 9/1 and 2/8 to 10/0, respectively.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a polyester excellent in heat resistance, by adding a low- molecular weight monocarboxylic acid to an initial reaction system of a specific aromatic hydroxycarboxylic acid, a polyester, a diol, a dicarboxylic acid, and acetic anhydride, and reacting them. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic hydroxycarboxylic acid of formula I (e.g., p- hydroxybenzoic acid), a polyester of formula II of a condensate obtained from an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and an alkylene glycol (e.g., polyethylene terephthalate), an aromatic diol of formula III (e.g., 4,4'-dihydroxybiphenyl), an aromatic dicarboxylic acid of formula IV (wherein Ar1-Ar4 are each a divalent aromatic group; and R1 is divalent alkylene) (e.g., terephthalic acid), acetic anhydride, and a low-molecular weight monocarboxylic acid (e.g., acetic acid) are mixed and heated to produce a polyester. The lowering of the molecular weight of the resulting polyester by heat treatment is small.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester capable of giving an inexpensive molded article having high heat-resistance and resistant to the lowering of molecular eight with heat, by adding an aromatic dicarboxylic acid to a reaction system after the reaction. CONSTITUTION:A copolyester is produced from an aromatic hydroxycarboxylic acid of formula I, a condensed polyester of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid of formula II and an alkylene glycol, an aromatic diol of formula III, an aromatic dicarboxylic acid of formula IV (Ar1-Ar4 are bivalent aromatic group; R1 is bivalent alkylene) and acetic anhydride. In the above process, a part or total of the aromatic dicarboxylic acid is charged to the reaction system at 100-290 deg.C, preferably 150-280 deg.C after the acetylation reaction and the initial polymerization reaction and when a prescribed amount of acetic acid is distilled off from the system. The reaction is continued and the product is polymerized at 250-330 deg.C in vacuum to obtain the objective polymer.
