The cell driving device includes at least two current sources (18, 20) disposed to provide a current signal to the cathode; and a controlling part (22) for selectively driving at least two current sources (18, 20) according to the size of a video signal.

According to two aspects of the invention, a FED and a process for making a FED are provided which effectuate more accurate and efficient sealing between a faceplate and a backplate assembly, with more accurate and efficient sealing between the faceplate (10) and cathode member (12). The FED is made according to a process comprising: aligning the faceplate and the cathode member; disposing an adhesive (16) between the faceplate and the cathode member; pressing the faceplate and the cathode member together; disposing a frit seal (18) between the faceplate and the backplate assembly; and heating the frit seal to a temperature sufficient to cause the frit to seal.

An imaging apparatus (100) for providing an image from a display (106) to an observer (101), comprising: a display (106) generating an optical output, an imaging surface member (109) constructed and arranged for viewing by said observer, and a scanning mirror/lens assembly (102) optically interposed between the display and the imaging surface member, and constructed and arranged to motively repetitively scan the display, generate a scanned image, and transmit the scanned image to the imaging surface member, for viewing of the scanned image. Various field emitter display designs and subassemblies are described, which may be usefully employed in such imaging apparatus.

The present invention provides for a fabrication of an integrated THz source. The fabrication includes integrating a field emitter array (FEA) with a grating by utilizing micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) and grating fabrication methods to build the FEA device upon a moveable surface that can be rotated perpendicular to the other, and locked into alignment or alternately finely adjusted.

A field emission device having cold cathode devices including an emitter and a lead electrode, and the field emission device is provided with the plural kinds of cold cathode device groups classified based on the emission property of the cold cathode device. This field emission device has a member for allowing the cold cathode device group to perform emission by successively changing the cold cathode device group that mainly performs emission based on the difference in the emission property. Thus, it is possible to maintain the emission current at a predetermined necessary value or more and to realize the long lifetime of the field emission device.

A catheter for emitting radiation is disclosed, comprising a catheter shaft and an x-ray unit attached to the distal end of the catheter shaft. The x-ray unit comprises an anode and a cathode coupled to an insulator to define a vacuum chamber. The cathode is preferably a field emission cathode of graphite or graphite coated with titanium carbide, for example. The anode is preferably tungsten and the insulator is preferably pyrolytic boron nitride. The x-ray unit is preferably coupled to a voltage source through a coaxial cable. The anode is preferably a heavy metal such as tungsten. The cathode may also be a ferroelectric material. The x-ray unit can have a diameter less than about 4 mm and a length less than about 15 mm. Methods of use of the catheter are also disclosed. The catheter of the present invention can be used to irradiate the site of an angioplasty procedure to prevent restenosis. It can also be used to treat other conditions in any vessel, lumen or cavity of the body.
