    Abstract: The invention relates to novel crystalline aluminosilicate catalysts and to a process for the production of such catalysts. The invention further relates to such process where highly specific starting materials are reacted under closely controlled conditions of reaction to produce the desired products. Furthermore, the invention relates to a highly selective process for the isomerization of xylene by means of such catalyst. Starting materials comprising mainly m-xylene are readily converted to isomeric mixtures of xylene close to the equilibrium composition.
