Abstract:
Apparatus for measuring in vivo tissue impedance comprising: means (10) to be implanted into the body tissue (12) for sensing the impedance thereof and for providing an output signal corresponding to the sensed impedance to a remote location. receiver means (62, 64, 66, 68) located at the remote location for receiving the output signal and means (80) associated with the receiver for displaying the measured impedance value.
Abstract:
The invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions for use against protozoa. The compositions comprise particles in the micron-size range which are physiologically acceptable to humans and which can be ingested by protozoa. The particles, which can be of natural materials such as silica or the like, serve as carrirs of an effective anti-protozoal drug. A variety of anti-amebic drugs can be bound to such particles.
Abstract:
The invention relates to novel crystalline aluminosilicate catalysts and to a process for the production of such catalysts. The invention further relates to such process where highly specific starting materials are reacted under closely controlled conditions of reaction to produce the desired products. Furthermore, the invention relates to a highly selective process for the isomerization of xylene by means of such catalyst. Starting materials comprising mainly m-xylene are readily converted to isomeric mixtures of xylene close to the equilibrium composition.
Abstract:
Described are novel amphiphilic amide compounds which are suited for the production of multilayer films which have piezoelectric and pyroelectric properties, and which provide second harmonic generation. It is possible to prepare from these compounds polar single-layer and multi-layer films by depositing them on a substrate. When such substrate is a solid support, polar Z-type Langmuir-Blodgett films are obtained. Upon compression of films of such compounds, at an air/water interface, stable Langmuir monolayers are formed.
Abstract:
A cytotoxic protein expressed by human peripheral blood mononuclear cells is isolated in essentially homogenous form. This protein may be used to elicit production of polyclonal or monoclonal anti-cytotoxin antibodies. Hybridomas secreting anti-cytotoxin antibodies are identified by a solid phase bioassay. The antibodies are useful in the immunopurification of cytotoxins. The purified cytotoxic proteins are useful for the treatment of virus-infected or tumor target cells, either alone or in combination with interferon or a metabolic blocker.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Described is a process for the purification of human immune interferon (IFN-y) to homogeneity without appreciable loss of biological activity by the use of chromatography on controlled-pore glass, ultrafiltration and high performance cation exchange chromatography, resulting in essentially pure human interferon subtypes 21 K and 26K. Furthermore, there are described pharmaceutical compositions containing said purified interferons.
