    Abstract: PURPOSE: To produce a cement structure excellent in papermaking properties and ensured in good capacity by mixing fibers to which a specific polymeric flocculant is bonded in a wet state with cement. CONSTITUTION: Org. or inorg. fibers are immersed in an aq. soln. of at least either one of a nonionic polymeric flocculant and a cationic polymeric flocculant and properly dehydrated by squeeze rollers. At this time, the treated fibers are held to a wet state without being dried to be improved in the dispersibility to water. Cement is usually charged cationically in water and flocculated by the anionic polymeric flocculant to form flocs and adsorbed on and crosslinked with the nonionic or cationic polymeric flocculant on the surfaces of the fibers to bond the fibers and cement. By this constitution, cement particles are much fixed on the surfaces of the fibers and a slurry extremely high in bonding strength and good in dispersibility is obtained and the bending strength of a cement sheet is largely enhanced.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To manufacture an extrusion molded matter superior in high strength, high tenacity and explosion-fracture resistance, by a method wherein a hydraulic substance containing a reinforcement material is extrusion-molded stably by low extrusion pressure. CONSTITUTION:A water-soluble cellulose derivative and sulfonate of a conjugated diene polymer are added to a hydraulic substance. It is effective further when an isoprene polymer is used for the conjugated diene polymer.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a nonasbestine friction material excellent in heat resistance, abrasion resistance and mechanical strengths by using a mixture of specified sulfurized acrylic flame-resistant fibers as a reinforcement of friction material. CONSTITUTION:A friction material containing a sulfurized acrylic flame-resistant fiber as a reinforcement, wherein said fiber comprises a mixture of a sulfurized acrylic flame-resistant fiber having a sulfur content of below 3wt.% and a sulfurized acrylic flame-resistant fiber having a sulfur content of 3wt.% or above. The reinforcing fiber is preferred to be in the form of a fibrillated fiber which can give a friction material which is particularly excellent in an ability to catch a matrix resin and a powder such as a filler in the friction material and has high uniformity. It is desirable that the mixing ratio of the low-sulfur content fiber be 5-50wt.% based on the total weight of the high and low sulfur content fibers. The sulfurized acrylic flame-resistant fiber may contain base fibers such as aramid fiber, glass fiber, carbon fiber, phenol fiber or steel fiber. As the binders, phenolic resins, melamine resins or the like can be used. Graphite, silica powders, metallic powders or the like may be suitably added in order to improve the frictional properties.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain fire-resistant fiber having excellent physical properties by feeding precursor fiber bundle to feeding side of burning furnace for heating treatment in treating gas atmosphere in specific state. CONSTITUTION:Precursor fiber bundle 3 is fed from inlet 27 and inert gas Q is blown from a gas-feeding nozzle 23 to replace to air in the fiber bundle. Then, the precursor fiber bundle 3 is reached at a treating room 7 through a sealing means 10; thus treating gas P is blown from the gas-feeding nozzle 23 and inert gas Q in the fiber bundle is replaced with the treating gas, then the fiber bundle is reached at a treating room 8 through a sealing means 11, thus the treating gas P and a slight inert gas Q are exhausted from an exhausting nozzle 24. By the above method, concentration of treating gas P component in a burning furnace 4 is kept constant.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title fibers which can be used as a substituent for asbestos in fireman uniform or gasket, because it has high tensile strength, excellent alkali resistance, heat resistance and flame resistance, by sulfurizing acrylic fibers in an atmosphere containing specific sulfur with heat. CONSTITUTION:Acrylic fibers are sulfurized by heating the fibers in a specific sulfur-containing atmosphere whose oxygen content is lower than 1mole% to give the subject fibers. The sulfur-containing atmosphere is preferably composed of 3 or more mole% of sulfur-containing gas, preferably sulfur dioxide and less than 97mole% of an inert gas.
