PURPOSE: A producing method of 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde using garlic is provided to enable users to easily obtain the high purity 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde with the high yield. CONSTITUTION: A producing method of 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde using garlic comprises the following steps: high-temperature aging the garlic at 70-90 deg C for 15-40 days by sealing the garlic with a polyethylene film; hot-water extracting the aged garlic; filtering and concentrating the garlic hot-water extract; fractionating the concentrated garlic hot-water extract using ethyl acetate or butanol; separating and purifying the obtained fractions; and freeze-drying the fractions. The concentration of the garlic hot-water extract is processed by using a rotational vacuum concentrator. The fractionating process of the concentrated garlic hot-water extract is performed by using the high-performance liquid chromatography of the reverse-phase column chromatography method.

PURPOSE: An aged garlic extract with the low content of 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde, and a producing method thereof are provided to reduce the content of the 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde by aging the garlic in the proper temperature and humidity. CONSTITUTION: A producing method of an garlic extract with the low content of 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde comprises the following steps: aging garlic at 50-60 deg C for 15-35 days in the humidity of 70-90%; mixing the aged garlic with water in a water ratio of 1:3-5 before crushing; and refluxing and cooling the crushed mixture before extracting and filtering to obtain the extract. The aged garlic contains less than 1mg/g of 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde, and more than 35%/g.DW of fructose.

A method for separating insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) from mammalian milk of the present invention comprises the steps of: a) separating the mammalian milk into whey and casein; b) recovering fractions containing a large amount of IGF-1; c) separating the fractions containing a large amount of materials corresponding to a molecular weight of the IGF-1 by using ion exchange chromatography; d) separating the fractions containing a large amount of IGF-1 by using gel filtration chromatography; and e) recovering the fractions with 7000-13000 Da or less by passing the fractions containing a large amount of the IGF-1 through a membrane with 7000-13000 Da, and then recovering the IGF-1 by concentrating using a membrane with 700-1300 Da.

The present invention provides a composition for preventing or treating metabolic diseases selected from the group consisting of obesity, dyslipidemia, fatty liver, and insulin resistance syndrome, comprising an Allium sativum L. stem extract as an active ingredient. The composition of the present invention induces the inhibition of adipocyte differentiation, reduction in body fat, reduction in visceral fat, reduction of total cholesterol, and reductions in serum triglycerides and hepatic triglyceride, thereby ultimately exhibiting activity to prevent or treat obesity, hyperlipidemia, or fatty liver.
