Abstract: An X-ray imaging apparatus and a controlling method thereof according to an aspect of the present invention are able to: recognize a marker which is positioned at an X-ray imaging object part in the image of an object which is photographed by a camera; prevent inconvenience which needs to directly move an X-ray tube and an X-ray detector by controlling the X-ray tube and the X-ray detector in order to move to a position which corresponds to the recognized marker; and reduce time for an X-ray imaging and an exposure amount on a patient. The X-ray imaging apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: an X-ray tube which radiates X-ray to an object; an X-ray detecting unit which detects X-ray which penetrates the object; an imaging unit which photographs an image of the object; a recognizing unit which recognizes an X-ray imaging object part in the photographed image of the object; and a position controlling unit which controls the X-ray tube and the X-ray detecting unit to move to a position which corresponds to the X-ray imaging object part.
