    Abstract: A damping device for suppressing vibration of a cable is provided to control vibration of cables of a cable-stayed bridge without complex controller or measuring device by installing a damper between linking members. A damping device for suppressing vibration of a cable comprises a fixed member(210), third and fourth links(231,232), clamps(240,241), first and second links(221,222), and a damper(250). The fixed member is fixed to a structure. The third and fourth links pivots at a first joint(211) integrated with the fixed member. The clamps hold a cable(100). One ends of the first and second links pivot at second and third joints(223,234) connected with the third and fourth links and the other ends of the first and second links are integrated with the clamps rotatably.
