Abstract: Provided is a flame retardant thermoplastic resin composition which is improved in heat resistance, impact strength and moldability and is lowered in water absorption by using a cyclic alkyl phosphonate ester compound. The resin composition comprises: 100 parts by weight of a rubber modified styrene-based resin; and 0.1-10 parts by weight of a cyclic alkyl phosphonate ester compound represented by the formula(1), wherein R1, R2 and R4 are independently a C2-C10 alkyl group; R3 is an ethyl group; m and n are 0, 1 or 2; and m+n is 0, 1 or 2. Optionally the composition comprises further 30 parts by weight or less of an aromatic phosphate compound. Preferably the aromatic phosphate compound is represented by the formula(2), wherein R3, R4 and R5 are independently H or a C1-C4 alkyl group; X is a C6-C20 aryl group or an alkyl-substituted C6-C20 aryl group and is derived from resorcinol, hydroquinol, bisphenol A, etc.; and n is 0-4.

Abstract: A salt of carboxyethyl phosphinate ester is provided to show excellent flame retardant property, improved heat-stability and moisture absorbing property by esterifying carboxy phosphinic acid and then preparing a salt compound thereof. The salt of carboxyethyl phosphinate ester is represented by the formula(I), where R1 is C1-6 alkyl, C6-12 aryl or alkyl substituted C6-12 aryl, R2 is C1-6 alkyl, C6-12 aryl or alkyl substituted C6-12 aryl, n is an integer from 1 to 3, and M is a metal selected from the group consisting of Al, Zn, Ca, Ba and Mg or an amine-based compound selected from the group consisting of ammonium, melamine and melum. The flame retardant thermoplastic resin composition comprises a thermoplastic resin and 0.1-50 parts by weight of the salt of carboxyethyl phosphinate ester regarding 100 parts by weight of the thermoplastic resin.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A flame retardant styrene-based resin composition is provided, to improve the heat resistance, the impact strength, the flowability, the environmental friendliness and the fire stability. CONSTITUTION: The styrene-based resin composition comprises 60-94.5 wt% of a rubber-reinforced styrene-based resin; 0.5-20 wt% of a polyphenylene ether resin; and 5-20 wt% of a phosphate ester compound comprising 30-80 wt% of an oligomeric phosphate ester compound having a hindered methyl group and 20-70 wt% of a phosphate ester compound having a naphthyl group. Preferably the oligomeric phosphate ester compound having a hindered methyl group is represented by the formula 1, wherein n is 0-4, X is catechol, resorcinol, hydroquinone or a bis phenylenediol derivative of the formula 2 (wherein Y is an alkylene of C1-C5, an alkylidene of C1-C5, a cycloalkylidene of C5-C6, S or SO2 and z is 0 or 1); and phosphate ester compound having a naphthyl group is represented by the formula 3, wherein m is an integer of 0-2.
