    Abstract: A phosphorus-based flame retardant is provided to ensure excellent fire retardancy and stability against fire and to prepare a thermoplastic resin composition with environment-friendliness and excellent fire retardancy. A phosphorus-based flame retardant has a structure represented by chemical formula 1. A method for manufacturing the phosphorus-based flame retardant comprises the steps of: adding a compound represented by chemical formula 3 to a mixture of phloroglucinol and solvent in a temperature range of 0~25°C; after completion of dropping, and increasing the reaction solution to 65~120 °C for 3~5 hours to react the reaction solution; and cooling the reaction solution to 0~20 °C and filtering and evaporating the reaction solution.

CONSTITUTION: The thermoplastic resin composition comprises 100 parts by weight of a rubber modified styrene-based resin which comprises 5-40 wt% of a styrene-acrylonitrile graft copolymer resin having 10-68 parts by weight of rubber component and containing 18-50 wt% of acrylonitrile except the rubber component, and 60-95 wt% of a styrene-acrylonitrile graft copolymer resin containing 18-50 wt% of acrylonitrile; 1-30 parts by weight of an epoxy resin; 5-30 parts by weight of an aromatic phosphoric acid ester compound; and 0.01-20 parts by weight of a zinc compound. Preferably the epoxy resin is represented by the formula 1, 2 or 3, wherein n is 1-10,000. Preferably the zinc compound has a diameter of 0.01-10 micrometers and comprises ZnO, ZnSO4 and ZnCl2.
