Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for reforming a surface of metal and a surface reformed metal fabricated thereby are provided to decrease a wetting angle of the surface of metal by irradiating ion particles having energy to a surface of polymer or metal while reaction gas is directly applied to the surface of the polymer or the metal in a vacuum atmosphere. CONSTITUTION: Any reaction gas selected from oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, ammonia, carbon oxide or mixed gas thereof is directly applied to the surface of the metal in a vacuum atmosphere. Ion particles having an energy range from 0.5 kiloelectron volts to 2.5 kiloelectron volts and dosage of 10¬14-5x10¬17 ions/square centimeter are irradiated from an ion gun to the surface of the metal.

Abstract: A regenerative evaporative cooler, designed to improve the cooling efficiency of its regenerative evaporative cooling unit, is disclosed. In the cooler of this invention, the cooling unit consists of a dry channel and a wet channel arranged to closely come into contact with each other. The dry channel allows primary air to pass through, while the wet channel extracts a part of the primary air from the outlet end of the dry channel so as to form extracted air flowing in the wet channel in a direction opposite to the flowing direction of the primary air. A plurality of cooling fins are arranged in the dry and wet channels to allow the extracted air to come into direct contact with water so as to improve the water vaporization efficiency and the water vaporization area in the wet channel. A first blower fan sucks the primary air into the dry channel, while a second blower fan sucks a part of the primary air of the dry channel into the wet channel so as to form the extracted air. A water supply unit feeds water to the wet channel. In the cooler of this invention, the extracted air flowing in the wet channel absorbs heat from the dry channel by means of the wet channel fin, thus cooling the primary air flowing in the dry channel.

CONSTITUTION: A resonance cooling apparatus for an electronic appliance emits the heat generated from a heating device of the electronic appliance surrounded by a case. The resonance cooling apparatus comprises a driving device(20) for generating a driving signal having a frequency identical to the resonance frequency of a fluid filled in the case. A sound wave vibrator(16) is provided to guide the sound wave to the case in response to the driving signal of the driving device(20). Abstract: PURPOSE: A hydrophilic filler is provided to achieve an improved heat or material transfer performance of a cooling tower by increasing direct contact area of gas and liquid. CONSTITUTION: A filler(4) where a cooling water and an air directly contact for a heat or material transfer, is characterized in that the filler has a surface which is hydrophile-treated using an ion beam or plasma. Thus, the cooling water flows widely all over the surface of the filler, improving heat or material transfer efficiency. In addition, a scale is prevented from being formed at the surface of the hydrophile-treated filler due to the improved fluidity, to thereby eliminate clogging problem. An adhesive property between the surface of the hydrophile-treated filler is enhanced, thus allowing filler packing construction to be carried out in an easy and convenient manner.
