Abstract:
The fatty fodder additive is prepd. as follows: (a) an emulsifier and a crrier material are mixed into a fat (vegetable oil, animal fat or fatty acid); (b) the resulting emulsion is dried and atomised in a drier; and (c) the produced powder fat is coated with an enteric coating material and dried. When the additive is fed to animals (esp. pigs), the resulting meat has a fatty acid compsn. which is rich in omega-3-fatty acid (partic. eicosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoic acids) but low in cholesterol. In addn. the additive has moderate hardness, may be added directly to animal feeds at feeding time, and is stable without the use of antioxidants.
