Abstract:
PURPOSE: A ruthenium-zeolite-based carrier catalyst for preparing sugar alcohols by the catalytic hydrogenation of sugars, a preparing method of the same, and a method for preparing the sugar alcohols using the same are provided to collect a catalyst carrying ruthenium without a regenerating process and to repeatedly use the catalyst. CONSTITUTION: A preparing method of a carrier catalyst for preparing sugar alcohols includes the following steps: a zeolite carrier is plasticized at a temperature between 200 and 600 deg C for 1 to 15 hours; a solid product is obtained and is treated with a solution of ruthenium compound; the resultant product is dried at a temperature between 20 and 150 deg C; the dried product is reduced with nitrogen gas containing hydrogen at a temperature between 120 and 450 deg C for 1 to 10 hours; and a carrier catalyst carrying ruthenium is obtained.

PURPOSE: A functionalizing method of porous metal-organic backbone materials, a solid catalyst using the same and a hydration method using the same are provided to effectively dehydrate alcohol as being operated as solid acid catalyst. CONSTITUTION: A functionalizing method of porous metal-organic backbone materials comprises the following steps: manufacturing suspended solution by mixing a compound which concurrently has thiol group and a location which can be coordinated with the porous metal - organic backbone material; heating the suspended solution from the first step; oxidizing the heated suspended solution with an oxidizer or oxidizing solid material obtained by solid-liquid separating the heated suspended solution by using the oxidizer; separating the solid from the reactant; and drying the separated solid.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: A catalyst for converting sugar to sugar alcohols by catalytic hydrogenation, a preparation method of the same, and a preparation method of the sugar alcohols using the same are provided to improve the yield of the sugar alcohols by using a ruthenium boron-based catalyst. CONSTITUTION: A catalyst for converting sugar to sugar alcohols carries ruthenium boron in a carrier. The carrier is one or the mixture of silica, alumina, and titania. The content of the ruthenium is in a range between 0.5 and 15weight% based on the total weight of the catalyst. A preparation method of the catalyst includes the following: the selected carrier is treated with the solution of a ruthenium compound, and the treated product is dried at a temperature between 60 and 100 deg C; solid products are obtained and are reduced at a temperature between 10 and 35 deg C by adding an alkaline solution containing potassium borohydride; and the resultant product is filtered and washed to obtain a catalyst carrying ruthenium boron.
