Abstract: PURPOSE: An output shaft assembly of an automatic transmission is provided to prevent clearance between a spacer and a bearing from wear and expansion difference, and to improve endurance by applying constant preload to the bearing with elastic reaction force in assembling the spacer. CONSTITUTION: An output shaft assembly for an automatic transmission is composed of an output shaft(6) mounting a transfer driven gear(10) engaged with an annulus gear(3) of a planetary gear set(4) and transmitting power from an engine to a differential(20); bearings(12,14) supporting the output shaft for rotation; a spacer(16) installed between the transfer driven gear and bearings; and a locking nut(18) combined with the output shaft to apply preload to the spacer. The diameter of the cylindrical spacer is increased at the contact portion of the transfer driven gear, and a curved part(16a) is protruded around the spacer. Clearance between the bearing and the spacer is restricted, and wear is prevented with reaction force of the curved part in applying preload.
