    Abstract: PURPOSE: An intercooler mounting structure for transforming a side member is provided to enlarge the absorptive energy of an engine room by inducing the transformation of the side member when a pole crashes to the intercooler. CONSTITUTION: An intercooler mounting structure for transforming a side member comprises a FEM(Front End Module, 70), a rear dash panel(40), a side member(30) and an intercooler(60). A cooling module(20) installs to the FEM. The side member is combined between the FEM and the rear dash panel. The intercooler installs to the lower part of the both side members. When a pole collides into the intercooler, the collision force and energy are delivered to the side member through the intercooler.
