Abstract:
A pressure-sensitive adhesive is provided that is a dried product of a latex composition, which is formed from an emulsion composition. The latex composition and the emulsion composition are also provided. The emulsion composition has droplets that contain various monomers plus a (meth)acrylate polymer dissolved in the monomers. Additionally, an article containing a layer of the pressure-sensitive adhesive and a method of forming the pressure-sensitive adhesive are provided. The pressure-sensitive adhesives often have both high peel adhesion and high shear strength (i.e., high cohesive strength or high shear holding power).

Abstract:
A method for preparing an acrylate adhesive is provided by the steps of partially polymerizing a monomer mixture to provide a syrup polymer composition having a high molecular weight solute copolymer. This first syrup composition is again polymerized to provide a second syrup polymer composition having a low molecular weight copolymer. The second syrup polymer composition is provided with a crosslinking agent and further polymerized to provide the adhesive composition.
Abstract:
A composition suitable for use as a low adhesion backsize or a primer for low surface energy adhesives, including the reaction product of at least one moisture-curable, semi-crystalline (meth)acrylic oligomer represented by the formula: wherein R1 is independently a C16 to C40 alkyl group; R2 is independently a C1 to C40 alkyl group; each R3 is independently a methyl, ethyl, or isopropyl group; X is a chain transfer agent as defined further below; Y is independently selected to be a methyl, ethyl, or isopropyl group; a, b and c are each independently selected to be an integer of at least 10, and a+b+c 1; and p is 0, 1, 2, or 3. Articles and methods of using the composition as a low adhesion backsize or a primer for a low surface energy adhesive are also described.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a crosslinked adhesive composition comprising a low Tg (meth)acrylate copolymer component, a high Tg (meth)acrylate copolymer component, and a hydrogenated hydrocarbon tackifier. This disclosure provides a pressure-sensitive adhesive and pressure-sensitive adhesive articles that are particularly useful in the bonding of low surface energy (LSE) substrates.

The oligomer may be used advantageously as a coating, primer or adhesion promoter in construction articles, for example, adhesives, caulks, grouts, pavement markings, paving materials, ceramic tiles, or roofing granules.
