Abstract: PURPOSE: To economically treat garbage by fluidizing garbage or conc. garbage under a high pressure and high temp. condition and anaerobically digesting the obtained fluidized matter while recovering methane. CONSTITUTION: Garbage is heated by a heating medium within a reactor 3 and pressed under high pressure by the self-generating pressure of the steam generated by this heating and held under a high pressure and high temp. condition to be reacted and fluidized. The fluidized matter is introduced into a first anaerobic digestion reaction tank 9 through a cooler 5 and a gas-liquid separator 6 to be subjected to anaerobic digestion reaction (methane fermentation) in the presence of methane fermentation bacteria and generated methane is discharged through a line 11. The digestion reaction product is introduced into a second anaerobic digestion reaction tank 12 if necessary to be further subjected to digestion reaction and generated methane is discharged through a line 14 while the digestion reaction product is extracted through a line 13. Since garbage difficult to treat is converted to the fluidized matter easy to handle to be subjected to anaerobic digestion treatment, digestion reaction is easily performed and digestion reaction speed is rapid.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To economically treat a moisture-containing sludge cake obtained by dehydrating organic sludge by fluidizing a solid moisture-containing organic sludge under high pressure and at high temperature, separating the solid of the obtained fluidized material from the liquid, and digesting the separated water thus obtained anaerobically with a concurrent action to recover methane. CONSTITUTION: Sludge as a raw material to be treated is introduced into a reactor 3 from a storage tank 1, and then is heated by a heat medium flowing through an outer pipe, when the sludge is moving upward through an inner pipe. Thus, the sludge is kept under high pressure and at high temperature to react and fluidized. The fluidized material thus obtained is cooled using a cooler 5, and is introduced into a gas/liquid separator 6 to separate the solid from the liquid. Next, the separated water obtained is guided into a first anaerobic digestion reactor tank 12, so that the solid is recovered through a line 10. Besides, the separated water is subjected to an anaerobic digestion reaction, in the presence of a methane fermentation bacteria in the reactor tank 12, then the digested liquid is introduced into a second anaerobic digestion reactor tank 15, in which the liquid is further subjected to a digestion reaction. This liquid is finally extracted through a line 17.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a method for production of hydrocarbons with phytoplanktons by using treated sewage as the culture medium thereof to purify the treated sewage. CONSTITUTION:Microalgae which produce hydrocarbons such as Botryococcus br aunii, etc., are cultured in a treated sewage as the culture medium, and the hydrocarbons produced and accMulated by the phytoplanktons are recovered for use. The treated sewage used as the culture medium contains a smaller amt. of inorg. salts of nitrogen, phosphorus, etc., compared to the initial water quality because of the growth of the phytoplanktons. Thus, quality of the treated sewage is improved.

CONSTITUTION:Microalga capable of fixing carbon dioxide gas by photosynthesis is maintained under a high temperature and pressure condition in the presence of an alkaline substance and an aqueous medium. The microalga is liquefied to a heavy oil-like substance by this treatment to obtain a liquid fuel usable as a substitute for fossil fuels.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rapidly decompose org. matter by irradiating waste water or waste with light, when the wastes are digested, to propagate the photosynthetic bacteria or the like, in granular sludge. SOLUTION: The org. waste water and/or org. waste to be treated are anaerobically supplied into a digestion tank and digested at a temp. of 10-100 deg.C. The org. waste water is supplied to the anaerobic digestion tank 3 packed with granular sludge contg. the microorganisms and photosynthetic bacteria causing methane fermentation from a waste water storage tank 1 through a waste water pipeline 2. A part or the whole of the digestion tank 3 is made transmissible to light for the waste water in the tank to be irradiated with light. The waste water in the tank is irradiated with the external light and anaerobically digested, the org. matter in the waste water is decomposed and digested to generate methane, and the photosynthetic bacteria are propagated. When the photosynthetic bacteria are propagated, inorg. matter such as nitrogen compds. and phosphoric acid is utilized along with the org. matter, hence the materials are removed with a high efficiency, and the waste water is completely treated.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use byproduct water effectively and reduce the production cost of a gaseous fuel by using nutrient-salt-containing byproduct water obtained in the process to gasify high-water-containing cultured algae in the presence of a hydrogen-activation metal catalyst for the culture solution of an alga culture process. SOLUTION: Cultured alga is supplied to a condensation apparatus 2 through a line 8. Condensed material having a water content of 70-80 wt.% is supplied to a gasification apparatus 4 through a line 10, forcing a pump 3 and a line 11 and then is reacted and gasified at the pressure not less than the saturated vapor pressure and 300-450 deg.C for 5-180 min in the presence of a hydrogen- activation metal catalyst. A gaseous fuel is obtained by sending the gasified product through a line 15, a cooler 5, a line 18, a pressure reducer 6 and a gas-liquid separator 7. The byproduct water containing nutrient salts such as a nitrogen compound or the like separated in the gas-liquid separator 7 is sent back to an alga culturing apparatus 1 through a line 21. Supplementary nutrient salts are supplied to the alga culturing apparatus 1 through a line 22.
