Abstract:
Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a wireless device to perform user equipment (UE) initiated beam management procedures with a base station or gNB. A wireless device in communication with a 5G base station may detect degradation in the pair of transmit and receive beams between the gNB and the device. The device may select a preferred beam management procedure and indicate the preference to the gNB.
Abstract:
Described herein are apparatuses, systems and methods for adaptive downlink scheduling and link adaptation. The methods including, at a base station connected to a user equipment ("UE"), determining an initial modulation and coding scheme ("MCS") for a plurality of subframes to be transmitted to the UE, wherein each MCS relates to a coding rate value for the subframes, determining an MCS pattern for the plurality of subframes based on the initial MCS, wherein an MCS for one of the subframes has a higher coding rate value than the initial MCS, and transmitting the plurality of subframes to the UE according to the MCS pattern.
Abstract:
A device, system and method for a user equipment (UE) to report a network resource and capability state to a network for coordinating network resource allocations. The UE is configured to establish a first connection to a first network based on a first subscriber identity module (SIM) of the UE and further configured to establish a second connection to a second network based on a second SIM of the UE. The method includes determining an upcoming first change of a state of the UE with respect to the first connection and transmitting, to the first network, an indication of the first change of state of the UE. The method further includes changing the state of the UE with respect to the first connection.
Abstract:
A device, system, and method perform an adaptive link adaptation. The method, at a user equipment (UE) connected to a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network via an evolved Node B (eNB), includes determining a type of wireless traffic being utilized by the UE based upon at least one application executed on the UE, the wireless traffic being one of a data only, a voice only, or a combination thereof. The method includes determining a block error rate (BLER) target value to be used in a channel state feedback operation associated with a link adaptation operation for a connection between the UE and the eNB.
Abstract:
Apparatuses, systems, and methods for performing timing synchronization between a base station and a user equipment device within an unlicensed spectrum band. In some scenarios, beamforming tracking may also be performed. Upon determining that a transmission medium within the unlicensed spectrum band is available for transmission, a base station may transmit a plurality of synchronization signal blocks (SSBs), or a plurality of copies of one SSB, with associated remaining minimum system information (RMSI) blocks, within a single time instance within a SSB burst window. The SSBs may be transmitted at different frequency positions and according to distinct beamforming configurations. The SSBs and RMSI blocks may be configured such that a receiving user equipment device may determine the time-domain, and optionally the frequency-domain, position of the SSB and RMSI within the SSB burst window, to allow timing synchronization and optionally beamforming tracking.
Abstract:
A wireless communication device (UE) may provide information pertaining to one or more operating capabilities of the UE to LTE and 5G-NR networks. The UE may transmit information to an LTE base station directly, and to a 5G-NR base station directly, or indirectly via the LTE base station. The information may include preferred values corresponding to any number of different operating parameters associated with wireless communications or wireless communication capabilities of the UE in both LTE and 5G-NR networks, to inform and/or request the LTE and 5G-NR networks to make provisions based on the transmitted information for the wireless communications of the UE on those networks. The UE may thereby provide assistance information to LTE and 5G-NR networks in a multi-radio-access-technology dual-connectivity setting to request the respective networks to adjust certain operating capabilities of the UE in order to alleviate one or more operating issues that may be affecting the UE.
Abstract:
A connection with a network that includes a base station (BS) may be established by a user device (UE) via a wireless connection, for conducting communications using semi persistent scheduling (SPS) in a connected discontinuous reception (C-DRX) mode. The SPS transmit periodicity may be adjusted with respect to the SPS activation command and the SPS interval UL (for uplink). Data may then be transmitted during the C-DRX On-Duration periods according to the determined SPS transmit periodicity. In some embodiments, the SPS transmit periodicity is adjusted such that following a first C-DRX On-Duration period when an SPS activation command is received, SPS data transmission occurs a specified number of subframes earlier during each subsequent C-DRX On-Duration period than in the first C-DRX On-Duration period. The SPS data transmission in each subsequent C-DRX On-Duration period may take place as soon as the UE device wakes up during the On-Duration period.
Abstract:
Providing adaptive channel state feedback (CSF) reports in discontinuous reception (DRX) scenarios in a power-efficient manner. The described algorithm may be able to make adaptive decisions to carry over the CSF from previous DRX cycles based on channel conditions, DRX cycle length, and/or the requirements of CSF reporting for current DRX cycle. The proposed approach can allow for more efficient power consumption related to CSF reports in DRX scenarios where new CSF reports have little or no impact to throughput.
Abstract:
A hierarchical beamforming structure may help reduce network traffic overhead for transmission of beam indication (information) and enable efficient Transmission Configuration Indication, while facilitating beam tracking between a base station(s) and a mobile device(s) during downlink communications. Downlink control information (DCI) may be expanded to carry/transmit a beam/QCL (quasi co-location) indication for a control resource set (CORESET) for monitoring a next instance of a physical control channel. Error resilient design techniques may be employed to further improve device mobility while increasing the flexibility and reducing the latency for GC-PDCCH/PDCCH beam/QCL indications. For example, the aggregation level for select DCI (e.g. DCI in which the GC-PDCCH/PDCCH beam indication has changed) may be increased, the transmission of such select DCI may be limited to a certain (specified) aggregation level, and in case discontinuous transmission (DTX) is received, the base station may transmit both old and new beam/QCL indications.
Abstract:
Methods, systems and apparatus for a user equipment to mitigate interference in a wireless charging state. The user equipment may determine when the user equipment enters a wireless charging state and, when the user equipment enters the wireless charging state, activate an interference mitigation. The user equipment may further determine when the UE exits the wireless charging state and, when the user equipment exits the wireless charging state, deactivate the interference mitigation.
